Advanced Strategic Command: A clone of Battle Isle series that I like because it's higher res and modern. Sadly it's partially incomplete and doesn't get updated often as of the past year, but it is solid. Also no battle movies like Battle Isle, only quick combat. I enjoyed it a lot more than I would admit to myself. Also has a version compiled for Ubuntu, just go to the Synaptic Package Manager and DL it free.

I've been playing a few casual online games lately...
Bitefight is that vampire and werewolf game we all see in the ads on the web...I'm on server 4, werewolf.
Kingdom of Loathing is probably the best browser game out there. Funny, free, awesome. Rohann666, level 7 Narwal Pummeler.
Shakes and Fidgets. Make a wild guess.

Mod Database Is like IMDb for mods. And it has A LOT of mods, in and out of development.

Actually it has been out for quite a while, but it has only recently been released on Steam (before it was a third-party mod with its own installer). The new version receives patches via Steam and has Steamworks integration (achievements etc.).

Cave story is probably the best freeware I ever played and one of the best plateformer.
