I have never used twitter before but the though of a free game compelled me to signup and spam you to death with messages, fun times. Hopefully i'll get lucky

It depends who you follow; I for one, for example, follow a lot of people who work in advertising and IT back home so I always get interesting things to read (new articles, project info, cute websites etc) and it makes it easier to communicate with people who you're not as close as to give your IM handle.
Also, I gave up blogging because I hated writing a post that only contained a couple of lines so Twitter was the natural alternative.
