GOG.com staff announced, that during the Fallout giveaway, 1.1 million people visited the website, during that 48 hours.

It's much more than in usual days. And it also shows that GOG.com is ready to survive the high traffic.

Up to April 6th, GOG.com was in the 500 list of the most viisited websites of the world.

About that... not yet. If you were on GOG after last Thursday's announcement, you'd have definitely noticed the site was buckling a good bit from said high traffic.

Still, if they gained some new customers with it and maybe with the Witcher 2 backup thing it's all good.

And yet 90% of the customers had refused Fallout. =,=

I was kidding, but now that I think of it, I really should go back and play it again. And probably FO2 as well.

How many GOG users have never purchased anything at all? There's a lot of games to be gained here by simple freeloading, either given out by GOG itself or by generous forum members. (Not to mention all the spammer and sockpuppet accounts, of which we've seen quite a lot as well.) I'm guessing that will be a pretty big chunk of the userbase, skewing that 10% figure considerably.

The last time Steam announced how many (supposedly "active") accounts there were, it was in the neighbourhood of 30 million, I think, but the number of users currently on-line at any point in time rarely exceeds 4.5 million.

In this light, the "10% of all user accounts on GOG own a copy of Fallout" is quite an achievement, actually.

This news makes me happy

I've had my CD copy since it came out but I downloaded the free ver. Not going to waste my money to buy something that already works just fine.


...especially since GOG games are not the original copy which means files are modified, the installer doesn't work on the original OS, the installer is slow as ****, etc....but if it's free? Sure I'll download it.

I had a CD of Fallout but it was starting to look like the scratches in an old record. Needless to say, I jumped at the chance to pick up a fresh copy and I told my friends. Thanks GOG.

And who says a nuclear war and Fallout is bad. great news and hopefully a lot of those visitors come back and buy lots of classic games.
