From who would you hear it if someone would? The doctor is forbidden to disclose anything said by the patient and I can imagine that someone with a needle fetish won't be telling it to everyone.

Man on the intertubez, people tell everyone anything. Just google "Needle Fetish." That's some scary stuff, heh.
Besides who says doctors actually abide by things like the Hippocratic oath and patient/doctor confidentiality? I know many do, but some don't see those ideas in the same light as others.

I think you'd be surprised how open some people are about their personal lives...
