Happy to give back something to this wonderful community :) just out of curiosity, I might treat myself to one GOG game after all. What empire building game (such as Zeus and others) would you say is best?

I have Zeus, and I really like it... BUT I would do a research for the bugs in the game forum first, if I was you...

Bigger scale empire as far as I can tell :)

I see that there are tons of adventure games on sale, but I am not so big on them. I always have hard time forcing myself to play one, but most often when I do I enjoy the crap out of them (such as Deponia, Simon the Sorcerer and so on)

If you enjoy horror and have spare $3, give Gabriel Knight a try. A milestone in serious, story focused games.
