GameRager: Not the whole forum......just a few longtimers mainly who want the forum run the way they want it run and GOD help you if you ever rock that boat, even if innocently and on rare occasion. Plus the newcomers who see their comments and believe everything they say.

It ain't a conspiracy if you're even partially right. One of the best weapons in the debasement arsenal is trying to make the opposition look worse/insane, and get others to believe and spread those ideas. FAIR GAME, anyone?

wpegg: Careful here guys, I wonder if enforcement is really the answer here. I wouldn't say it goes against the philosophy of GOG, but suppression overcome by reconciliation are implicit themes that I take from the site. Perhaps discussion would be better.

GameRager was more aggressive in the past. He's calming down, we can just ask him nicely, again.

You had to do it didn't you? There is also the fair comment that people don't want to be constantly aggressed. I'd like it if you and the community could actually come to an understanding, rather than escalating with antagonistic posts.

Which is exactly what you're trying yourself here, saying (veiled in vague wording) I believe everything the oldbies say.

No, I'm sorry, I'm a rational human being with my own opinions and desires. I don't enjoy the veiled attack on my credibility, either.

I quite agree, I think.

I don't think heavy handed moderation, bans or whatever is the answer.
I think getting a couple of community moderators would help a great deal (as long as the right kind of people are chosen, of course), as they would be able to tell everyone to chill out, or if needed lock threads before they spiral out of control.

For instance, now we have fiveish active threads all pertaining to this issue, more or less. Which makes it all chaotic, and isn't very constructive.

For the record, I don't hate GR. I disagree with just about everything he says. I also think he needs to stop abusing the community and seriously reconsider his "posting hygiene." That's all.

Again, I wasn't pushing to see how far I could go. I thought people would get a laugh and that someone would complain a bit but that would be it so I went ahead. On other strict forums with tougher mods and less lax rules I have seen such done for just entertainment's sake with narry a problem. Here it seems to be different. Here you try to tell a bit of off color humor and boom it's shot to shite.

I didn't mean to attack your credibility albeit by accident. Also I meant SOME might, not all.

Your bias is showing....seriously everything i've said you disagree with? Even the posts where I help to answer questions and help out?

Also tantrum? I hate people calling frustrated arguing whining.....it's not always that.

I will agree to stop "whining" so much and the pointless threads like the Spammmmm one....but I ask that people not blanket low rep me if I make one or two humor threads every so often unless it's for a valid reason and only on the posts they find offensive/etc.

I still will occasionally post a silly thread in here and may use off color humor but will try to keep it in line with the indecent rules/etc.

Excellent. How about we say that you'll not start any threads that are not related to gaming, and we won't hit you're rep? Sound fair?

I can't do that.....sorry. I agree to cut the number down alot.....but again IMO General means even non gaming related threads.

Also, if I ever have to stop all misc thread entirely then get all newcomers to stop posting repetitive asking threads and the like. ;)

Even the off color threads are risky, why not take a break? respond more than you're pushing out info. It's rewarding to help people, try to solve people's problems on the various threads.

If this carries on it may be best to ignore the thread for a bit, let people vent steam and talk amongst themselves (if thats what they want to do) then talk about it when everyones in the mood for discussion and not a lynching

Wpegg not included as s/he seems to be taking the lead in reaching a compromise
