Useless threads based around a one-trick pony of a pun are not anything to enjoy in a community. They're not productive, they're not particularly funny after the initial glance over what the hell is going on, they're just spam. Spam with a gimmick, and that's it.

There is no conspiracy, there is no one out to get you. People don't like a useless post that is going to be continuously bumped to the top of the forums for no good reason. They downrep it, it dies an early death, they no longer have to look at it.

It is a very simple concept. And Occam's razor says that it is the most likely one by far.
Yes but this is GENERAL. Do you vote down the game request threads too, I am curious?

As for the humor...i'm sorry if you find it beneath you but not all of us do. Also stop trying to be like the others trying to mold the community into some impossibly perfect paradigm. It will never happen.

1. I wasn't talking about the threads you started. If you read what I wrote, I was talking about all your posts, not just new threads.

2. We don't need a scapegoat for anything, you are constantly proving our point for us with every post you make. You are either completely oblivious to your own behavior or you are intentionally being this obtuse to further disrupt the forums. I would never tell anyone to compromise their values, but that is not even the issue here. Your "dickishness" is not a value, it's simply bad behavior that I wouldn't tolerate from a child, let alone someone who claims to be an adult.

I'm not trying to mold the community, nor am I saying humor is "beneath" me. I'm saying it's funny exactly one time. That is NOT enough for a whole thread.

Here's an example, written by me no less, of a much more offensive and adult-oriented thread that has been left to die temporarily -- but which had no negative reactions. Would you believe that?

Do you see the difference here? They are doing it once -- then they learn, and then they stop. You are a repeat offender.

I didn't say the dickishness was a value....just that I don't(when talking civillly) mince words...that is my value.

One joke per thread is spam but keeping with the jokes isn't? That's what I get from the one part at least. That because I posted one joke and some people might find it not so funny it's spam. Plz correct me if i'm wrong but that's what it sounds like.

No, the same joke over and over again in multiple threads is spam. If you had started one thread with your "play on words" joke then just posted additional funnies in that same thread, we probably would have all joined in with you and had a grand time, but you didn't do that, you just kept posting the same joke over and over again (different words, same joke).

I get that, but then why did most posts go low rated so fast when there was only one threrad and people were enjoying it? Wouldn't it have been all normal rated with maybe or or two low rated at that point if that were the case?

I agree that I shouldn't have made the last threads though.

BTW apparently the mods have caught on as earlier my two known alts have lost repping priveleges.

I'm saying that your jokes are simply puns. They're okay as single posts in their own right but the funny dies fast. When they're their own thread it dies even faster because you can't just push them out of your mind, they're being forcefed to you every time you check the General Discussion page to see what cool new stuff has been posted on it. And they, being only threads about one pun, are only even funny for a few moments after you click that first link. "Oh, that's pretty good. Haha." And then you forget there was even a joke involved.

Yes but even with one pun people can spiral the convo as some did to other related things like how cute the animals were and the like.



I need good names for a doom based thread.....I don't wanna confuse or offend this time. Anyone got any(civil and good sounding) suggestions? I'm planning on it being a long thread over many months and also will be planning on multiposting a few times like Zchinique has done here for breakdown/menu style posts on the mafia games so also plz bear with me while knowing this.

Do we want newcomers to see an odd play on words or dirty joke (i say odd due to GR saying he will lower the amount) or do we want newcomers to see this crap with a forum taking chunks out of itself and feeling the need to air its dirty laundry for the whole flippin web to see?

Im tempted to start a "what a racket" with an image of a tennis racket just to add fuel to the fire but i decided against it (mainly cause id have to get out of bed and turn the pc on)

May be if this site had some moderators like other sites, the people here wouldn't need to air their dirty laundry. That's the impression I'm getting.
