I decided to create a character for Risus, as this system is new to me and one of the main reasons I got interested. Of course, if the game will change to a different one I have to create a new character, same if this one isn't accepted.
I must warn you, my char backgrounds are always pretty long and detailed.
The idea of this char is basically an Asiatic architect from a distinguished noble family. For simplicity reasons I use Japanese-inspired names and mythology, but the origin of the culture is actually a mix of Japanese, Korean, Chinese.

Character description (actual looks) are most likely to change and be expanded further. Awaiting opinion/suggestions on it.


CHARACTER SHEET

Name: <Akatori Yukihiro>

Description: <Yukihiro is born to the well respected Akatori family, one of the noble houses in the distant Jade Dragon Kingdom. He is, just as the whole family a descendant to one of the divine beings venerated and worshiped in the realm, in this case a mischievous fox spirit, a Kitsune. As such while he is still considered human, he has inherited a bit of the powers of his ancestor, and this can also be noticed physically due to Yukihiro's amber, fox-like iris and pupil of his eyes, and snow white hair. Both of these can be explained by the rare kind of Snow Fox spirit ancestor.

Yukihiro was always more interested in construction and inventions than his noble duties and fighting classes, thus he became renown at home for being a "silly boy with a talent for building", or called "the mad, white beastkin" by those who disliked him or his family. Under his instructions three castles and a city had new, strong walls and defenses erected, wind and water mills have been built, and a wooden "mobile fortress" has aided in driving off barbarian invaders.

While he was greatly respected at home, the enemies of House Akatori in other parts of the realms distrusted him and his inventions, feared the rising power and wealth of their rival, and the inventions that could easily and radically reshape the balance of military might among the families.
Using the chance to strike at the Akatori when Yukihiro accidentally fell while testing a flying device down on a brother of the Jade Queen to stir up distrust and fears the rivals of House Akatori joined together in a political and propaganda campaign to discredit and demonize the Snow Fox and her descendants. This resulted in the rare Snow Foxes and their bloodkin to be erased from the list of benevolent beings, and became known as fiends and demonkin, while the usual Kitsune were spared of this.

Open warfare began when the Jade King's dynasty sided with the Akatori while the Jade Queen's with its enemies as the rivals were not stopping at destroying the name and honor of the family, but also wanted the lands and titles be stripped from the Akatori. The conflict ended in the defeat of the faction that supported the Akatori and the death of the King by his own wife the Queen, who was then named the first Jade Empress. The days of the Just and innovative Jade Dragon Kingdom were over, and the dark days of the dictatorship of the Jade Empire began. As relatives of the losing faction were exiled or outright killed the Akatori family was hit the worst and barely and members of it managed to flee.

Yukihiro managed to get away with a small number of vassals and allies who then became less and less on the journey into the unknown West. When he arrived on the eastern border of the land where he is now, he was lucky enough to be hired to improve the fortification of a border town, which barely had a few meters of wooden palisade around it without larger holes.

Tools of the Trade: <
- A combat staff carved from a sturdy white tree with a fox figurine at the two ends of it. The figures and the carved symbols are painted red in a water and fire repellent paint that is unique to the Jade Kingdom/Empire.

- A custom made toolbox with all required tools for planning & designing, also a few lockpicks and a sharp jade scissor. The box can be worn as a backpack and has enough spare room for a lunch box in it as an extra.

- A handful of firepowder balls, capable of helping Yukihiro constructing or destroying things.

- 3 scrolls of the Fox Temple, rescued from fire while fleeing home. Yukihiro had no time to pay much attention to them yet. They are likely to contain ancient knowledge of either martial arts, or about the Snow Fox heritage.>

In the Jade Empire many people see him still as a potential threat, or a possible salvation. While Yukihiro just wants to be left alone and sees no chance to rescue others from his family, it's unlikely the world will leave him alone.>

Tale: <
A small number of followers and friends from all kind of social standings braved the long journey together with Akatori Yukihiro to this strange new land they hope to call home in the future. While Yukihiro is not really one you could call a leader, he is a bright young man who knows when to rely on the advice of others.>
