Isn't it about time all the giveaways, Steam key threads and recent spam threads by ne_zavarj find their own sub forum?
Or at least make it possible to filter out threads based on keywords?
Wasn't there a greasemonkey script someone posted lately that did just that?
I forgot the name of both the poster and the script.

I must have missed it for all the spam.

ne_zavarj? spamming? You must be crazy!!!

God that's the first time I actually see people complaining there is TOO MANY occasions to win free games!

Yes, there are a lot of those threads. And so what? If the forum was so dynamic, after all, those threads would quickly drown. It's not the case. Draw your own conclusions.

When you make dozens of similar threads in a short span it's spamming. Why not keep the gifting bonanza in one thread?

These spammy threads are indeed stupid, but I doubt I'd be making giveaways at all if there was a subforum dedicated to them. My giveaways threads were never adressed to (or meant for) the kind of people who'd specifically seek them, or who come specifically for them.

I'd also not participate in them either, as I only take part in a giveaway if I stumble upon an amusing one.

Plus, as often mentionned but it seems to be worth repeating, many giveaways (including, often, mine) are a pretext for discussions and thoughts exchanges, making them legit threads by themselves - with interesting "in" and "not in" posts. A giveaway subforum would kill that possibility, as these threads would be seen only by people merely seeking to grab free games. Or would prevent a nice discussion to include a little amusing related 'gift' in the background.

I'm beginning to agree that it would be nice to have a sub-forum for all the giveaways. Didn't mind them before especially since I like to enter some of them from time to time too, but now it seems the whole 1st page is almost nothing but giveaways.

PetrusOctavianus: Snip
While I agree that a specific forum for these would be nice; your definition of spam and mine certainly differ.

^This. I see giveaways as a way to give back to the main forum community. So it would be bad to separate the two.

But it would be nice if people starting several giveaways in a short time would do so in just ONE thread instead of opening a dozen threads like ne_zavarj did. Because if half the page is taken by threads opened by the same person, it really starts to swamp out the other threads. And that is kind of annoying, even if the intent is good.

Lifthrasil: even if the intent is good.
Actually is it ? Or is it a way to maximise super important rep points ?

What was the point of making a series of separate threads, instead of one thread with the list of games ?

But there's no "discussion", general or otherwise, going on in those threads.

Hm. You might have a point there. Several threads of course generate more rep than one thread... I just never cared enough for rep that I would start to open many threads just for rep harvesting. Perhaps ne_zavarj is just desperately trying to get her fifth star, for whatever reason, and that's why she distributes her keys across many threads instead of making one.

Or it's for keeping it clean? (in her own threads :D).

Concerning a giveaway forum, I'd be for it, but seeing how some would stop doing giveaway because it would be against their intent or whatever, why not just have an Offtopic forum? This way the general forum would stay only for Games rants and the other forum would be like the current general one :D
