PetrusOctavianus: Isn't it about time all the giveaways, Steam key threads and recent spam threads by ne_zavarj find their own sub forum?
Or at least make it possible to filter out threads based on keywords?

Thanks to all the assholes who see no problem ruining things for people just because their precious royal little eyes don't want to see giveaway threads no more, there are no more giveaways from ne_zavarj, all canceled.

PS
I wasn't interested in any of the games he was offering so it's not about me.

Yep, it's pretty ridiculous.

YOU SHOULD ALL BE ASHAMED OF YOURLSELVES.

langurmonkey: Thanks to all the assholes here, no more giveaways from ne_zavarj. Now a bunch of people won't have smiles on their faces after winning games.
Unfortunate that certain people only want to please themselves, and if the forum isn't run according to their ways they'll bitch and moan until they drive the community apart, and then they'll bitch and moan because nothing happens, on the forum

If I put myself in their shoes and see these threads as spam. It's still fucked up to bitch and moan if bitching and moaning means a lot of people don't get to win games. People being annoyed because they have to see spam or people losing games, which is worse? Winning a giveaway can truly make someone happy. Imagine, you are having a shitty day, then all of a sudden, you find out, you've won this game you've been wanting to play for some time. Huge boost to your happiness level. It's not just about people getting free games. It's about people winning. And life often makes us feel like we are losing, so winning something really helps. To take this away from people simply because you don't want to see spam is insanely selfish.

I believe the simplest solution is to install the hide giveaway script, and for gift givers to include the word "giveaway" in their posts. People can still view GA threads with this script installed, they just have the option to not view them when they don't want to do that.

Is this so hard to do?

I support this as I think it's the best solution and doesn't take away anything from anyone as all the threads can still be viewed.

Well, that is kind of an over reaction. No one requested stopping the giveaways. Just the number of threads by one person was an issue. There is a difference between bundling giveaways one starts (in a short time) in one thread and cancelling giveaways that are already running. Especially since ne_zavarj hits those who didn't complain with her action and doesn't hit those who complained. So really an over-reaction (on all sides).

In case my 'Thank you' came over as being too cynical: I really meant it. I thought ne_zavarj meant with her post that she would not create further threads, but use those she already had created for future giveaways. And that would have really been something positive.

Ah well, huge misunderstanding. But everyone will calm down eventually.

Yes. I give my vote to this too. Please, everybode who does a giveaway, just use the keyword in the title. That avoids many grievances by those who don't want to see all the giveaway threads.

Well i guess you could add a new button for when someone create a thread. So we have poll, question, giveaway.
Then allow a filter in the account settings to hide giveaways or something :P

I don't think it is an over reaction. It is the right reaction. People always being calm is not always a good thing. Let sheep be calm.

Still, while everyone's waiting, you could install the hide giveaways script that works on Chrome (tested it myself :P) as that would be much quicker :D.

Just for completeness sake: it works in Firefox too, of course (being written for Greasmonkey). And there is also a Greasemonkey extension for IE but I don't know how good it works.

Well, kinda makes giveaways and general discussions mutually exclusive (as adding a gift to it hides the discussion to a portion of the forum population). But heck, people just love categories, epurations, polarisations, dichotomies. Gotta go with the general love for exclusions, clean worlds, and "either/or" solutions.
This forum lacks a lot of things other forums have. Like a profile where you can see all the posts of a particular member or even just all your own posts.

Telika: Actually is it ? Or is it a way to maximise super important rep points ?
You mean there ARE living people out there that REALLY care about that number under their avatar? No way! No one would be stupid enough to waste their energy on such a meaningless thing!
