Telika: Which I will start doing. To my regret, because I also liked to put 'giveaway' in the title. But given that it automatically classifies my threads as spam and blocks them out, then fuck that.

gooberking: Which would be a really huge jerk move. Why on Earth would you deliberately bypass the only known mechanism people have to filter out something they don't want, and force them to participate in something they have expressly tried to avoid participating in? What possible good could come of something like that for anyone other than someone trying to create chaos, or demand everyone pay attention to them?

Unless I'm miss interpreting something, I'm border line shocked. Not shocked someone would do something like that, but shocked someone would admit they are planing to do it, and seem to think there is nothing wrong with it.

It's fine that you enjoy giveaways, but That doesn't mean you get to demand everyone else feel the same way, and really you don't need to work around the system. Anyone that has gone to the trouble of adding a hiding script doesn't want to play, and I would wager to say you don't really want them playing. It should be OK for people to not play together, but what your proposing is not OK. Nobody is deliberately spoiling the giveaway culture, but please don't spoil people's right to not be a part of that culture if they don't want to.
You get to demand that threads that are or contain giveaways have "giveaway" in their title because? Why should you decide what I and others get to name our threads? If I want to give a thread a funny and/or creative name I will and I won't ask you beforehand. You are the one doing the demading here not he.

Agh.. -I- messed up the joke. The funny thing was the "band-aid" thing, and I thought you said something like. "that should cover it". Goddamn, sometimes I read want I want to read. And no, Stooner is like my best buddy on here, and if anyone tries to slice his balls, they'll have me to deal with. Which isn't much, but hey.

I was thinking of a Bob Geldof quote actually (feed the world etc).

Oh, and too late, we got em - they're currently being shipped to be fired around the large hadron collider - the irony!

Lifthrasil: Great. Problem solved. Thank you!
you know you really are narrow minded. Look at the bigger picture - ne_zavarj has spent his time recently cultivating relationships between developers and GOG. This may have resulted in YOU being able to buy a game, from a developer currently not on GOG, if indeed they do come here in the future.

Because he did it in the form of giveaways, and you are too lazy to install a script that ignores them - you are not telling me or ne_zavarj to fuck off, you are telling GOG. Not only are you saying that we "the community" should not help GOG explore other games/developers, you are also asking GOG to ignore any profit provided by the likes of me, who buy GOG games to give to the community.

It is not a demand, it an appeal to decency. If humor and creativity compel one's self to post without regard for others, people with respond with kill files or leave all together.

I never suggested people be forced to use "giveaway" to identify all giveaways so they could be boxed up neatly. I am saying that if that one word is naturally useful to a minority for filtering, then having someone deliberately use that knowledge for eradicating any ability to do so for no good reason, well that sucks. It's a tacky, childish response to something wholly benign.

On one hand you have a group trying to exercise an element of choice and freedom at no cost, or determent to the other side. Then you have the other group declaring war over some sort of perceived slight, and basically making vows to eradicate that choice and freedom? Really? And for what? Sour grapes over not being seen by the entire world, just 99% of it? How did we get to the point where someone is taking personal offense to others not viewing threads that don't even exist yet? Why the hell does anyone care what threads the OP and others look at? It's weird and likely destructive to the community.

...because it's common courtesy that the thread title should reflect its content? If I made a thread titled "new game by Molleindustria", the first post should not contain a request for Lotus Domino tips instead.

Unfortunately this thread isn't based on this presumption it's based on this presumption:

gooberking: Then you have the other group declaring war over some sort of perceived slight, and basically making vows to eradicate that choice and freedom
The whole thread is dedicated to the notion your free to post your thread, as long as you post it in a way that suits me. or to state it more obvious. you have a freedom to make any thread you like, with any title you like, but if it's a giveaway you have freedom to use any title, but you must add giveaway, or a "vocal" super small minority is going to be upset. And to prove this is the current vie here is proof that your first point isn't valid here:

Apparently. Only forum I'm aware of where people are just giving stuff away and others are whining about it. WTF.

Everything in excess is bad. The problem isn't the giveaways itself (I've no problem with people giving to others) but that they take up a large part of the first page that might otherwise show threads that I find interesting. I'm not expecting every thread to be interesting, that's why I want an effective filter system so I can avoid the threads I don't want to enter or see at all.
