I'm really interested about this game, but still, i've heard the polarised reviews of it
Does anyone play/has anyone played it recently to suggest if it's a good game?
Im not interested in it for a zombie shooter, rather this zombie simulation
It is really bad. REALLY bad.
The gameplay trailer looks awful
But in all seriousness WHY is it bad??
Make no mistake: this is the Big Rigs of zombie games. An unbelievably low-budget game (even by budget game standards) launched while apparently still in the alpha stage. Even the much-derided Superman 64 was actually finished; this isn't.
It would be easier for me to count the things this game got right than what it got wrong. Post-release patches have reportedly fixed some issues but it is still a broken mishmash of average ideas implemented poorly. Top this all off with zero performance optimisation (crawling frame rates on good systems despite sporting 2002 graphics quality) and you have the best $10 you ever flushed down the toilet. This was somewhat acceptable in 2002, but with the likes of GOG selling top-quality older titles for $10 or less not even their "indie" status can let them get away with selling game this terrible.
If you closed your eyes and picked a game on GOG completely at random you'd be guaranteed to end up with something vastly more enjoyable for the same price or less, even if it's a genre or gameplay style you don't even like.
EDIT: if you want a fuller indication of what the game holds, read this review. He highlights most of the many flaws this game has.

bad review. Filled with subjective drivel about minutiae "problems" with the game.
The graphics are bad and it gets a while to get used to the controls, but if you do, it is a very good budget game.

In my case, the controls were cumbersome and the weapons next to useless. You could aim point blank at a zombie that was right next to you and still miss by a huge margin. The tutorial was also bugged making it impossible to complete (tried it several times and it would always mess up at the same part -- shortly after getting a weapon).
After trying to play for a few hours I gave up, uninstalled and have not bothered to try again.
I have this game. It is horrible.
I love this game.
Well, not really... But I just wanted to say something dramatically different to what you usually hear about it.
The truth is:
IT'S NOT THAT BAD! (zomg all-caps)
If you're willing to forget about clunky controls, bugs here and there etc. etc. it's really an enjoyable experience. And I have to say, this game comes closer to 'zombie survival simulation' than any other game I have played. Granted, other games are better but if you find this game for a few bucks on a promotion (I paid $2-5 for it, don't remember) and have some time on your hands, you might actually enjoy it.
Because this game is first and foremost about IMMERSION. If you're willing to imagine you're that survivor in the land of the dead, it's a really enjoyable game.
Don't go thinking you'll be spending weeks glued to the monitor because of it, but I didn't regret buying Fort Zombie.
It's a failed abortion between Superman 64 and Dead Rising.
It is a shame that this game comes from Swords of the Stars devs. LOL.
From what I understand. The game has been heavily patched since release and works better now.
Here is an LP of the game

The game sounds like a step on the way towards a game that would be really interesting: GTA Zombie Apocalypse. Does anyone besides me think that a post-apocalyptic GTA game could be excellent fun?

Yeah, but I'm the one who wants a postal version of life as an MMO. Home Depot training facilities....epic...
