No I've not gotten the chance to read it. :) But its been a while since I've been in the world of EQ.

I avoid him for other reasons.

Like killing off Chewbacca and ruining Star Wars books for me for many years.

But, y'know, everyone has their own reasons. I have a friend who lent me the graphic novels based on the first few Drizzt books, and I was just kinda "meh" despite them combining comic books and DnD, two of my favorite things in the whole world.

Playing the Campaign with Drizzt as a companion is epic. :D

Forgotten Realms yes. Dragonlance, Eberron and Dark Sun no. The problem with AD&D was there were way to many settings.

There. I just redeemed the Expanded Universe for you. And yes, as shitty, as horrendous, as terrible and unwatchable and vile and despicable a movie Episode III is, the book is proper Greek Tragedy stuff (literally, as it even borrows a character introduction theme from The Odyssey), and it's a good read.

There was an attempt at GOG roleplaying on Google Wave long ago (I think the service is dead now, or at least read-only). What's needed is a good game master, players that don't quit when stuff gets boring, and a no-dice ruleset (dice are fickle on the 'net, much too easy to get a natural 20 with no way to prove or debunk it).

Almost forgot to answer the main topic...I went through a period of a couple years where I was reading DragonLance novels non-stop, couldn't get enough of them. Loved Tasslehoff & Flint, especially the interaction between them. I've read alot of DL novels about the main party, and also the short-story collections set in the DL world (one of my favorite DL short stories being "The Wizard's Spectacles" or something like that). Never read any other official D&D novels, though. I just started with DL & kept going.

I have to mention another favorite author of mine, Greg Costikyan, for his novels Another Day Another Dungeon, the follow-up One Quest Hold The Dragon, and a solo book titled By The Sword. All are good solid fantasy novels, but he incorporates a sense of humor that's not so over-the-top that it'll leave a slapstick taste in your mouth.

I am a huge fan of forgotten realms and dragonlance. Ed greenwood is awesome. If someone started a D&D game i would be in for sure. There was a thread on here but it died out a little while ago so i don't know if it is still going on for D&D games and others as well but it just didn't take off. There were enough people on there too. DM's and players.

Yes, i am a huge fan of the Dragonlance and Forgotten realms settings. I play NWN 2 on forgotten realms servers, and i also roleplay online with a small group in forgotten realm setting, tabletop 3 dot 5 d&d. All that racism and mystic in the setting makes it very easy to dream away and just forget everything.

I love all the lore before 4 ed / spellplague. Any lore with the spellplague i think is junk.

That was something almost refreshing about the DL novels...the characters weren't allowed to just live forever. Their deaths were written into the novels, rather than "And they lived happily ever after, eventually dying of natural causes...but we won't tell you about it, that'd be too depressing."
