I understand that some of the newer games to come out in the last few years might be good, and worth playing, but does anyone else feel as though it goes against what GOG was founded on? That being classic gaming?

CDPR would do better in developing a sister site that focuses on Newer releases that get 'retired' to GOG upon hitting a certain age.

Semantics, I know, but it used to be exciting to log in once a week to find out what classic was on the new release tab. Now, I just see a bunch of games that I've never heard of, all recent games, and it's slowly eroding my excitement for the site.

GOG is just GOG now, it doesn't stand for anything.

We don't quite as many classics as we used to but it averages to at least one a week. I still need to catch up on some of them myself(Carmageddon, Shadow Warrior, Dangerous Dave, Medal of Honor, and probably a few more I'm not thinking of right now).

This was discussed when GoG started releasing newer titles. Its aslo why i ignore the capital "o" because it isnt all old games these days.

We get 1-2 old games per week, I'm pretty sure it's always been about that many.

GOG now only stands for "GOG", it's been that way for a few months so right now your concerns are kind of irrelevent to most of us.

In any case, yes, there's new games being released, there's also older games being released. The Enigmatic T has gone on to say however that despite the release of both newer and older games, there's still the same amount of old games being released on a weekly basis as opposed to what it used to be. Just think of it of getting twice the games as usual, half of the older generation of gaming and half of the newer.

In one week:
-Hostile Waters -2001 (returns)
-Imperialism -1997

In two weeks:
-Perimeter -2004 (returns)
-Soldiers: Heroes of World War II - 2004 (returns)
-Terminal Velocity -1995
-Shadow Warrior -1997
-Warlords Battlecry II -2002

Without returning titles, that's 4 old games in 2 weeks (the maximum we used to get normally back in Old days). With returning titles, 7 old games (more than the maximum we used to get normally back in Old days).

There has still been some great old releases (highlight for me was shadow warrior and Dangerous Dave) and unfortunately for GOG, i probably won't buy their newer games, I tend to buy them on steam.

I agree that also for me the excitement has been going down since the release of the newer games and every tuesday and thursday i hope for an old classic (so i get dissappointed in that regard on a weekly basis ;) ).

But this has been discussed a lot to be honest and like i said they still release classics on a regular basis. They have grown and like with most growth they lost some uniqueness but it's still a great service.

As long as they don't lose their focus on old games I don't have an issue with them selling newer titles as well.

Maybe GOG should start a newsletter about classic game releases only, for all those people who come here just for the 'O' and can't stomach to see anything else. That way, they'd have proof that nothing much has changed, they could keep up the illusion that the 'O' still stands for old, they would be as happy as they used to be, and they wouldn't need to come here just to nag and start three of these threads each week ... ... because that's not even true. It's been proven that we get the same amount of classics as before, we just get all the new games on top of it.

It's been added a few months ago. Quite a few old games were added since then. Yeah, I think GOG can just mark that ac 'complete' :-P

Sorry, but as a paying customer on the site, I'll express my views and opinions to both the community and, most importantly, the devs.

Your idea is a good one, though. Separating things would allow you to take your frustration to another forum. Until then, you'll just have to put up with this sentiment again next week.

The fact that there is a constant stream of criticism on this very topic should be something that CDPR should take to heart.

It feels to me as though CDPR are pushing away the very demographic that made the site a success to begin with.

Heh yeah I like how GOG have marked it as In Progress, as if to say they will always continue to be in the progress of adding old games.

There are some newer games I'd like to see on GOG purely because of the DRM stance e.g. Settlers 7 isn't very old but apparently the DRM makes it unplayable for some which puts me off getting it elsewhere. But at the same time I also think it'd be great to see Settlers 1 :) So I don't mind a bit of both.
