Niggles: You guys do realise rep is pretty useful to tell who posts a lot, contributes to community and handy when your trading or stuff like that right?. Its nice to be able to not see it, but its handy to have it. Imho.
Hmmm, no. A simple post count would be far more useful than rep, which just leads to trolling and griefing.

You would also need a way to see other people's posts. Someone could have hundreds of posts with most of them being begging posts.

That isn't entirely fair. I make A LOT of posts and well, only 90% of them are trolling.

Is post count the number of posts a person has made on a forum? What's to stop someone from spamming for post counts?

ejiki: Well, recently many people have complain that they was downrepped for nothing. So I decided to make my contribution to solve this problem, at least partially.
So, here it is - a userscript, which can completely remove reputation (well, actually just hide it. but who cares). You'll never see it again, and if you don't see it - no reason to worry about it!
I hope it will work for you (I never write on javascript before, but this script is rather simple). If not - let me know, I'll try to debug it.
Say NO to downrepping trolls!
Actually I'm pretty good at ignoring rep #s, but thanks just the same.

Although I try to ignore it, what catches my eye sometimes is that colored text at the top right corner of the post, like your post is currently showing. Maybe you can hide that as well? Or if that's not doable, perhaps you can change the color of the text, like a color that matches the carbon forum theme to make it invisible. :P
Can I use it to show I have a rep of 9999 with 16 stars? I like feeling better about myself. But seriously who cares about what your rep is. As long as you're above the 24 or whatever that magic limit is where you can post links, what does it matter? And why am I having a deja vu moment?

What's all this talk about rep? I saw something about making our posts blue! We could all be kewl like the Gog team and the GogBear!

Here's a simple way.
But other people will be able to see your rep...and a -10000000 does give people a bad impression of you if they don't know you.

Titanium: But... how will we arbitrarily judge other users now?

Yeah, if he keeps it up, he will be infamous soon.
high rated
I'm having the same problem. I joined GOG a few months ago and didn't start being active until maybe a month ago. For some reason, people decide to down rep me after i had maybe 15-ish rep. Oh well, i hope this doesn't make people think poorly of me,
