Where's my Bishon Frise?
Its not cut like a show dog though, she looks just like any other small dog.
I'm surprised pugs aren't on here. They are so ugly it's cute!
My friend has a Shih Tzu. Cutest dog ever.

Tarm: Hunting dog breed?

Yep, mixed with the typical terrier curiosity and energy. They're pretty trainable though.

Oh I love those! I might even get one in the future. :)

It was easier to write than...ok I'm lazy.
And what gender do you happen to be born with? (I'm hoping for a normal built redheaded goddess with curves. :P ).

bansama: I would love a cat, but there's no way I'm paying several thousand dollars for an animal. Like everything else here, the prices that pet shops try to charge you are beyond belief -- hell, I've seen top quality pedigree show cats sold for less than the mongrels they're trying to peddle here.

Go to an animal shelter. They practically give them away.
Actually I got my cat from my grandparents. They live on a farm and they caught a couple wild newborn cats. They're tame because they were caught when they were like a week old.

Well, since you are new, I'm a DUDE.
That is a picture of a girl I've been with for almost 2 years now.
We have been best friends since 3rd grade.
And yes, she is 5'1 and curvy.
Truthfully, I hate twigs. They don't seem natural to me.

Should work anyway with a kitten if you have a very close eye on your dog in the beginning and of course you have to have it trained.
Don't blame me if it go wrong. Dogs are like persons and there's no way to tell how they'll react. Imho it's worth a shot if you like cats.

Forgive me for throwing out a hook and being a bit aggressive with you. I'm new to this forum and I've found that the best way to get to know the regulars is to wait a bit and go a little more personal sometimes. You don't ask you wont get a answer.

Tarm: You're strange or a city dweller. Everyone that's not a, well, person that have grown up in a city buy their cats, dogs, rabbits and so forth from a neighbour or someone they know that have a animal that have recently delivered.

I live in pretty much what could be termed "inaka" or countryside. But even then the only place you can buy pets here is from pet stores. Most people can't even have pets due to laws, regulations and so forth preventing them from having a pet in their home.
This is certainly a far cry to the UK where we used to have literally 10s of cats at a time (I think the most we had at one time was 50 or so). but then, we were breeders of pedigree show quality cats.

Kingoftherings: Go to an animal shelter. They practically give them away.

No animal shelters near here. And even the places that do have them; they still charge several hundred dollars (or equivalent). And to that end, I haven't seen a single stray animal here in almost a decade.
It's sad to think that the only affordable pet in Japan, unless you're really willing to put down 100,000 to half a million yen or so on a dog or cat, is a gold fish. Seriously, the prices here for pretty much anything are seriously fucked up compared to almost any other country. And they wonder why we're in deflation. Here's a hint Mr. Hatoyama, it's because, unlike you, we don't get handed millions of yen each month by our mother. Not all of us can afford the stupid prices attached to everything.
Still, looking back to the cats I used to have, I'd have to say our blue-eyed and odd-eyed whites were the best. And we were fairly luck in that only one of the blue-eyed cats was deaf. Oh, the fun of trying to get a deaf cat out of a tree =)
Speaking of dogs, I remember a case in Galveston which the old head of animal control was supplying a Vietnamese restaurant with...well...dogs. They got shut down, he's in jail. Ironic, cause now he is the bitch.

Don't worry about it. Oh, and if you don't know yet, Aliasalpha, another user with a female avatar, is a dude as well.

Nearly £3,500 for a dog or a cat?! I'd be suprised if you didn't have a pet black market with the sort of money that could be making.
bansama
So you fit with strange. Strange as in I have no experience with it and don't know or understand it.
From what you're saying it sounds grim. But I'm a hopeless romantic so I'll say go for the cat instead of that new car, refrigerator, lawnmower or whatever you're thinking about.
If you have it as a housecat it'll last for 10 up to 20 years if nothing unfortunate happens and if you have a family the value can't be measured in money.

Yeah I figured out Aliasalpha is a male but thank you anyway. :)

Yeah, stupid isn't it. I could get a top class pedigree cat in England for well under a £1000 -- but that's because I knew the breeders. And even when you don't know the breeders it should never be that much over a thousand (mind you this was 15 or so years ago, but I doubt prices have changed that much.
As for a black market in pets? That'd make me laugh. I could just see the Yakuza doing that now =)
@Tarm, you think I can afford a new car, fridge, TV or what not? Heh. They make the prices of animals cheap in comparison.
I have a hamster. He's called Beowulf.

I have no idéa. Just listed some of the unnecessary stuff people like to spend their money on. Value for your money really is my point.
