Aningan: Oh yeah, forgot about him. Must be cause I only got him in one playthrough and didn't really use him that much.
He's rather suicidal given he favours his auto-shotgun so often ends up dead. Hell he didn't even survive getting the Lincoln memorabilia in my last game.

Delixe: I've very excited. Chris Avellone is the lead writer on this one.
Fuck yes. There was some shoddy writing in New Vegas ("I am one with the Wastelands" seriously the hell? Or Vault 3, now there's some shitty writing there; and what about the mercenary who attacks Jacobstown, "I know when to fight and when not to, and it seems I ought to back down from this one") but all things considered, in general the writing and dialogues are fantastic, and actually make enough sense for me to overlook the rubbish Gamebryo engine. The humour is also spot on - funny without trying too hard like one game in particular.

CalamityRanger: I was really hoping for a June release
avatar
Delixe: It was supposed to be a June release with Lonesome Road in July. Then Lulzsec happened -_-
I was not a happy camper with that news. :\ I kind of had a feeling the hack would push the release date back but then no word from BethSoft on the release date made me go "Yup, no June release for OWB..." I suspect we won't see LR til August now. :(!

OneFiercePuppy: Fallout ends with you getting screwed.
spoilers for f2:

F1 did

F2 ended up on pretty high note even if you screwed up few things.

your people reunited with v13 dwellers and build a new prosperous city (does it appear one way or another in New Vegas) and you lived happily after. some places did get fucked because of you (or not if you played the cards right) but you did not get screwed...

I want to get retail New Vegas with all DLC like i did dragon age ultimate. was it already announced?

Aningan: Yes, retarted. I have a mutant who's immune to radiation and I'll rather commit suicide to "save everyone" rather then sending Fawkes in. That's not noble, that's dumb. The whole story wasn't very good, but the ending... that was beyond bad. Hence the reason they fixed it with Broken Steel and in the process broke the balance of the game since F3 wasn't really designed for lvl 30 characters.
At the risk of being a killjoy, you do know that there's a fairly crucial difference between "not enough" "just right" and "too much" of something, yes? Not enough water? You die. Just right amount of water? You live and are even rejuvenated by it. Too much water? You die. You didn't like it, I get it. But there was nothing discontinuous about the ending, there. You breach a radioactive core, you not only have lots of radiation rays come to kill you, you have intense heat to deal with, too.

You wouldn't have liked Fallout 1, either, I suppose.

I wonder how you can defend the Fallout 3 ending? It's pretty nonsensical to have a person much more resistant to radiation than you, with a much higher chance of survival, standing right there, refusing to go in because "it's your destiny" supposedly.

Now it might make sense if the character was a selfish jerk, but Fawkes is a nice guy. In the same kind of situation before, he did go into the radiation-filled room so you didn't have to.
Why is he refusing now?

And for the record I enjoyed the ending of Fallout 1 vzry much. I especially enjoyed the fact that you could shoot the Overseer in the back. :)
The Fallout ending wasn't about noble sacrifice (since after the Vault Dweller's life didn't turn out that bad afterwards), it was about the fact that being a hero wasn't rewarding, and would get you screwed over more often than not.
That's part of the more mature aspects of the original Fallout that were sadly lacking in Fallout 3 (and were already mostly absent from Fallout 2 anyway).

Bro. Just get New Vegas, f{}ck the DLCs. Well maybe they're worth paying extra for, but really you should just snag the main game if it ever goes on sale. The DLCs, you can always worry about them later since the game is Steamworks-based anyway.

Sorry but Fawkes was male. The terminal entry was written long before Fawkes was 'born' and put in that cell.
