oasis789: Loved Flashback. Much better than Blackthorne, that ripoff
I just restarted playing Blackthorne last night (have been stuck on a stupid level that involves making three difficult running jumps in a row which I lack the reflexes to perform). It's still as frustrating as hell. The whole timing of the shooting annoys me to no end as well.

I agree Flashback is many times better than Blackthorne, but I don't know about Blackthorne being a rip off. Sure they have similar animation style (as do the original Prince of Persias) but that's about it. But Blackthorne is a platformer with a stupid shooting mechanic and really basic inventory. Its basically just jump here shoot that. There is no story.

Flashback on the other hand is a rich adventure platformer, that has a great story, interaction with characters, real inventory (as opposed to just keys and bombs) and large interesting levels.
Thought that trailer looked kinda meh but I like the idea.

I thought Blackthorne (Blackhawk for us Old-Worlders) to be a competent mid-paced jump'n'run with a good atmosphere... Don't forget it's a SNES game first and foremost, hence maybe the bias toward platforming rather than proper action-adventure.
I always linked Blackhawk more to Prince of Persia than Flashback myself. Especially the hide&shoot fighting mechanic remind me of how fighting in Prince of Persia was all about learning the slash/block/move patterns of the enemies, and very little about actual "action".
And I'd rather have this kind of mid-paced mechanics in an adventure platformer than pure run&gun action fighting.

OH MY GOD, YESSSSS!!!!!!

I don't care for the system it comes on. My favorite game. Oh man, this is sweet.

tomimt: I wonder if we'll see Fade to Black some point as well. It was a pretty good sequal to Flashback.

Ravenvolf: A lot of people hated it, but I was quite a big fan of Fade to Black. Would like to be able to play it again.
Likewise, I really enjoyed FtB. Indeed it was one of the few computer games that I played to completion.

I'm looking forward to the Flashback remake, hopefully they won't cock it up.

I'm kinda hoping someone will do a Crusader:No Remorse/No Regret remake (or new game)

The remake will include the original, and a PC release is confirmed.
REALLY hoping this makes it to GOG.

Excellent news but I wouldn't count on it reaching GOG anytime soon. But Ubisoft could astonish us...

Great news. The original + remake for $10 sounds pretty good to me. (I'll of course wait for a 75% off sale...)
At that price, I'd say it even looks good for a gog release. The fans of the original doubtlessly linger here more than elsewhere. Ubisoft has advertised this right, given the PC version a go. Just one step of the extra mile left to go, and it's really not a big step.

It would certainly be a day one purchase for me - no 75% off sale could sweeten this release even more. ;)

GOG, get this game.

It's a great candidate for your 600th game being a Classic + Modern game.

I'd gladly buy this from GOG day one if they can snag it. Particularly for the original version!
10$ for the remake & original on gog = instabuy
Welll... any news here?

wow that would be great...
Steam pre-order is up, it's $10 and comes out October 1.

Also, in a Facebook post, VectorCell says that they couldn't license the original game's music, which is why it's not included in the re-release.
