Just a side note, 200 years later, this motto still sends shiver down of my romantic spine whenever it is evoked ;). Also it is featured prominently in the city of Vergen in the witcher 2. Pretty appropriate, eh!

The colours in the Polish flag is taken from their coat of arms.

Edit: Or even - the current Polish coat of arms is a variant of their coat of arms.
