Desolation of Smaug trailer

I was somewhat underwhelmed by the first movie, but still enjoyed it well enough. I'll definitely catch this one in the theater as well, but I'm not on pins and needles waiting for it.

About sums it up, I guess.
SMAUG!!!

Also was Legolas in the book? I would have remembered his name there after reading all of it.
I'll watch it.
Looking good! I really enjoyed the first one.
My only grip is the trailer music, fuck me its so generic, you can put that music anywhere and it would fit, a step down from the first trailer.

And yes Smaug looked a little fake problems was the lighting and he looked a little cartoony, but hey its better than Godzilla 1998.
I don't get one thing. They film's budget is huge and at the same time they use almost CGI only while LOTR used a lot of props, costumes, and other shit that costs a fortune?

You CGI everything when you DON'T have money.

Nevertheless, gonna go to the cinema as soon as possible.

At least they did not CG the actor's weapons and clothing (looking at you Green Lantern)

Also the last movie was mostly CG and it did not bother me that much, perhaps this trailer showed it in a bad light :P

Not even a character implied to be Legolas?

nope.

Legolas is first mentioned in LotR.

His father, Thranduil, is the elven king of Mirkwood, so he is in The Hobbit. If you stretch your imagination then you may think that Legolas was one of the elves running around there also, off course.

Normally I don't really mind if its not fateful to the book, if Manga and Anime versions of series are different from each other all the time than we should get used to it with Film and Books, and besides if say you don't like the film, be thankful the book still exist so you can write off the film entirely.

Really liked the first movie, waiting for the extended edition to be released to grab it.

This trailer doesn't really show much, not that I care, since I'll watch the movie anyways.
Am I the only one that feels the camerawork has suffered by pandering to the 3D fad (especially the waterfall/running through trees bit)?
