Recommend any game in the vein of Elvira, Total Distortion or Waxworks. Preferably with health stats and good puzzles.
I know it may be a little diffrent than adventure game, but you can find really great and fun puzzles with first person perspective + health stats in Legend of Grimrock :-)
nvm.

And the upcoming remake!
Explora were said to be excellent, never played them. I played a lot of games like Borrowed Time, Arazork's Tomb and Mindshadow, but they were a mix of click and parser (maybe you could use any of these interfaces). The mediaventure games were really great (Deja Vu, Uninvited, Shadowgate...) but I don't think they were as good on the PC as on the Amiga. And Manhunter: New York/San Francisco were amongst my very favorite sierra-on-line adventures, but they end on an awful cliffhanger...

Maybe try the Dark Fall and Scratches games on GOG ? The frogware Holmes series are quite cool too, and you can choose to play them in 1st person. They're not "tile based", though.

mondo84: And the upcoming remake!
Pledge to that kickstarter on day 1, when there were but a few 100 $ pledged.
Darkness Within series comes to my mind as a superb lovecraftian first person horror.
Dracula Resurrection series is my favorite First Person Point and Click games :
Dracula: The Resurrection
Dracula: The Last Sanctuary
Dracula 3: The Path of the Dragon
