My first PC game was Cyberia (bought it along with the PC) on a AMD 486 DX4 80 or 100MhZ? with 4MB of RAM a 1MB Cirrus Logic gfx card and a 2x cd-drive. I really loved that game and was amazed by its 3D graphics and lots of speech in-game.

The 486 was my first PC I had an Amiga 1200 HD (40MB) before that and even before there was the C64.

I can't really remember which were my first games on those machines but I do know for certain Zak McKracken and the Alien Mindbenders for the C64 was the first game I ever bought.

On a "IBM" PC, the first games I played were Prince Of Persia and Wolfenstein 3D I think.

ViolatorX: North and South when I was 4 years old lol I used to love the noises from the indians apparently, That and superfrog was probably my favorite game
North & South was one of my favorite games when I was young! I don't exactly remember the noises from the indians, but it's true that the sound effects were hilarious. I hope to see this one here on Gog.

reaver894: Rogue... Yup that was my first I think, my memory sucks though.

Flitters: WOW! Someone else remembers Rogue!

That was also my first game if memory serves although it isn't what it used to be either. =P

As far as I can remember, it was either Q*Bert (the PC version, of course) or MotoRacer.

And a lot of them use ASCII characters in place of graphics.

Also, I'm not sure of the absolute first game I played was, but Jill of the Jungle is one of the first games I played.

I don't remember for sure but I believe it was Doom II.
Hrmm..probably Commander Keen. But around the same time I also remember Wolfenstein-I thought it was kinda boring, tbh.
The first game I remember playing on a PC was Warcraft II. I thought it was the coolest thing I'd ever seen when I saw my cousin playing it. I'd never seen anything like it. Eventually I got a PC and a copy.

But the first game I taught myself how to play on the PC was Master of Orion when I got the PC and a cousin lent me his floppies. I ended up vastly preferring MoO over Warcraft which holds true to this day with TBS and RTS.
Computer in general, or PC only? I think the first computer game I played was a muppets game on commodore 64. I was 3 maybe? I still vaguely remember the weird sound effects.

I also remember little computer people on commodore 64, the original inspiration for the sims, with a man living in a house. It had a terrible bug where at some point he walks into a room in the attic, shuts the door, and never leaves. Ah good times. I don't know how much time I sat trying to make him come out of that room. What was he doing in there I wonder?

Then Amiga, there was a battlezonesque game called Arctic Fox, and some other shooting type games. Out of this World left an impression - that monster scene at the beginning made me jump out of my chair. I was already quite well versed in games by the time I got into classics like Road Rash, lemmings, and worms.

One of the earliest pc games I can remember was Die by the sword. I loved cutting off someones arm, picking it up, and beating them with it. All of the control styles available were pretty bad, but they gave it some charm. I probably played some terrible pc games before that, but I don't remember them. I waited a long time to upgrade my Amiga to a pc, I even managed to get an amiga version of pc games like doom, long after amiga gaming went downhill.

Oh, it was probably something on the BBC Micro for me. We had a whole bunch of games for it. Probably the most memorable was Chucky Egg. Giant Birds creep me out. Couldn't say definitively it was THE first, but certainly the first I remember. Love the chunky keys on the keyboard of that thing.
