It seems that you're using an outdated browser. Some things may not work as they should (or don't work at all).
We suggest you upgrade newer and better browser like: Chrome, Firefox, Internet Explorer or Opera

Crosmando: Oh right, you mean the client
You don't NEED to use the client to purchase games. I buy indies there all the time and have never even installed the client.

ne_zavarj: I never buy any games via the Desura client .
A lot of their games don't require a client. It's not very obvious though. When you get a game from them it gives you two big buttons, one to install the game via the client and the other to install the client. In the fine print below these buttons is sometimes a link to download a standalone installer. My only gripe is that you can't tell which games have this installer until you purchase them.
Sorry, you can't seem to do the "open link in browswert" optinon in the website version, so you can store the zip or whatever on your harcxdir hardicrive

There is a way of telling that a staff member there told me. Go to a game's page and then add "download" at the end of the URL. That page'll let you know whether there are standalone downloads or not.

Is your keyboard being attacked by a friendly cat or are you drunk?

What about their policy to ask for standalone installers on all of their game pages?

Yeah, I think their policy is that all games must have standalone installers apart from games in alpha funding and games that were signed before this policy. Only the developer of Steel Storm seems to be enough of a dick to actually make use of his exemption and completely refuse though.

Thanks for the tip! I sent an email to the site but never got a response.
Also, you can in fact download the game with the client, and play it without. Heck, once you've installed the game, you can even more the folder around and it'll still work.
