Hey everyone,
Everyone probably has the problem that I'm currently encountering at a certain point. You play some great games and then you want an all time classic game you will give you enough to do for weeks.
Currently I'm at that point. I just finished my first shooter ever, I've enjoyed both Psychonauts and the stronghold series. I'm a gamer who loves working on something big when playing a game. For example I love everything from Chris Sawyer. Like RCT series and especially Locomotion, but I also love games such as Red Alert, C&C and on the whole other side Zoo Tycoon 2.
Anyway, back to the main question. At this moment I'm just completely blank in terms of what game to buy and play for a really long time. So the replay value / play length is important for me.
If you guys could help me on my path to the perfect game ( :P ), then any comment / reaction is really appreciated.
Kind regards,
Martijn

There was a similar thread to this not long back that had quite a few good suggestions. HoMM 3 is always a favourite in terms of quality and quantity.
Hostile Waters is a nice blend of arcade shooter and tactical combat.
The Guild:Gold Edition is another game you might wanna look at if you enjoy building toward a larger goal...although it's not in the same vein as Rollercoaster Tycoon for example.

Thanks to you and the @GOGcom twitter, I'm not really hanging between Evil Genius and The Guild. However I'm still open to all suggestions.
If you like building/sim/tycoon games, you might like these:
Constructor
Settlers 2
Caesar 3
Call to Power 2

Well The Guild will last you a long, long time (it you get into it), Evil Genius was a game i wasn't expecting a whole lot from and really enjoyed. Patrician 3 is another game you may like to check out if you like the sound of The Guild.
I just got tropico reloaded myself from here. I'm really just starting out on it but both the first and second game seem to have alot going for them in terms of building up the island and the bigger picture. I actually like the second pirate themed one more at the moment, its fun building up a pirate haven and then sending out your ships to plunder loot for you.

I just wanted to add that it's not solved, no matter what is says.
What will last you for weeks depends largely on what you like doing.
If you're into management, here's another vote for Tropico and for Patrician 3/Port Royale (1 or 2). Or, you could check out one of the Capitalism games.
If you prefer RPGs, you should try Sacred Gold (for an Action-RPG; it has an immense world to wander in and adapts to your character's level), or the Might and Magic 6-pack.

I personally really enjoyed Prince of Persia: Sands of Time. It's platforming with some action, great atmosphere. The game itself isn't particularly long, but I've replayed it several times, and it's fun every time.
I'm not sure how cool it is to recommend games on Steam, but Audiosurf is a blast and will keep you busy for ages.....

Audiosurf is a really cool game indeed, but I can't buy it. This because I want to be able to install and play it on an offline pc. This isn't possible with steam.
What about something like civ4 or supreme commander?
Caesar 3 is the best city building game I've ever played specifically because it's one of those games I've not only been able to lose hours at a time to without realising, but also because over the past decade or so I've constantly been coming back to it. Every couple of months I hear its siren call.
