I bought Final Fantasy VII years ago, but never managed to get it to run on Win 2000 or XP (haven't tried Vista, and probably won't easily find the discs). I'd like to see it appear on GOG.
I doubt it will ever happen, for a few reasons.. first off Square Enix doesn't want to resell the original PS1 game.
Second, Do you know how angry that will make people with existing hard copies of the game? They'll be all 'hay now it's useless u basterrrrrrdasstoooshies'
Because the resell value of their game would have just dropped.

They should be keeping it because they love it, and not because it may be worth something. But also, this will never happen. I will enjoy eating those words if it does.

who could love such a thing?
It should be made clear that GOG is for good old PC games. FF7 meets only two of those requirements (it's old and it's a game).
Also, feel free to correct me if I'm wrong about the PC games only part.

You're wrong, sorry pal x). There are few adaptations, FFVII and FFVIII I'm sure of it, don't know about the IX, though.

Okay I know I'm wrong about FFVII not being a PC game, but are console games allowed on GOG or not?
On-topic: out of all the Playstation-era Final Fantasy's, I only really like IX and funnily enough it's the only one of three that didn't get a PC port. :-/
Also I'm not your pal, buddy.

I don't think the console games are planned on GOG.

I'm not your friend, GUY.
Also, are edutainment games out of the question for GOG? I don't want to get my hopes up or anything but there are some damn good games I remember from my childhood I'd like to replay for nostalgia purposes and they were all made by Humongous.
Final Fantasy VII works fine on XP, and I think there's an unofficial Vista patch out there as well. All you need is the XP (or Vista if that's your poison of choice) patch that fixes a few minigames and the small patch that allows you to watch the movies.
It would be fairly easy to create a GoG version of it. I can't really see why Squeenix wouldn't allow it, since I assume they'd get a cut of the action. Setting up FFVII (or FFVIII as well) on GoG would probably mean that Final Fantasy on PC would experience quite the Renaissance...
I know I'd buy it on GoG just so I wouldn't have to treasure my FFVII and FFVIII discs so heavily. They are getting kind of old, and my somewhat paranoid mind even consider them "brittle"...

If you'd rather not wait for the possibility of them appearing on GoG, GameTap has a fair number of edutainment games. They have several of the Oregon Trails, including the original, and I believe they have some Humongous games as well.

Gametap doesn't like my 64-bit OS...
With all of the re-releases the FF series has been going through I think it unlikely that we would find any of their games here.
It would be nice though. The PC's few versions are great and we could really use some attn. from Square Enix.
