Rusty_Gunn: a bit offtopic but was there a number in Japan for Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest?
No, since it was a spinoff. It was instead called Final Fantasy USA: Mystic Quest. No, I'm not joking. Unless you are referring to Final Fantasy Adventure (also known as Mystic Quest in Europe), which was called instead Seiken Densetsu (Legend of the Holy Sword) - Final Fantasy Gaiden.

Protoss: I wrote (JP) in the title. Seems it didn't help. :-(
You could have instead written "NOT THE ONE WITH KEFKA!" :P

I was referring to the 'merican FF:MQ

a bit odd naming there, but I've seen worse, thank you. have a +1 for your trouble

The only FF that I'll bother getting with steam AND Square DRM is FF6. The one with Terra, Celest, Kefka etc. FF6 is simply too good to miss.
Given the chaos that Squeenix's own DRM caused on the Steam version of FF7 and Squeenix's recent comments on DRM, I'll give this one a wide berth, thanks. Besides, I already have the imported Japanese UMD on PSP, which can be played in English.

Rusty_Gunn: Another one here who would buy if it came here, but since they don't trust us with "their" game, I wont trust them with "my" money.

^This - it's the most healthy attitude; if they hadn't made these recent statements about DRM, I'd suggest letting them know "why", but it doesn't feel worth it.

Oh that's neat! I love UMDs. Does the Japanese FF3 PSP UMD have English subtitles? I was thinking of picking up the USA localized version but it's only available on PSN unfortunately.
I think this will be priced 15€.
Hey I just remembered that this comes right after the announcement that Sony sold all their Sqeenix shares - I wonder if the 2 are connected, like maybe Sqaure wanted to do more PC stuff and fell out with Sony over it or if they're desperate for cash just doing whatever they can to raise some funds?
I heard that 'Bravely Default' did quite well for them recently though, maybe too little too late?
I actually heard that the original NES game got translated to English some time ago, true?

As far as I know, there has only been a fan translation of the original for many years. Only the 3D remake has received official translations in a variety of platforms.

I think I may have some of those fan translations but I doubt I'll ever finish a Final Fantasy outside of X-2 (I know I'm lame, it was still fun damnit! :P).

Protoss: Next, Final Fantasy III is coming to PC. A rating by Germany’s USK board leaked the news.
A PC version?! I want it badly! ... however, if they use DRM like with FF7 & 8 I'll sadly not be buying it. (I wanted those as well and didn't pick them up.)

*sighs wistfully*

Come on Square Enix! Don't cripple your offline game with online requirements!

zaine-h: For those interested, FFIII had a wishlist item. Vote here!
Voted! ^_^

If I remember correctly FF III uses a "job" based class system kind of like FF V & FF X-2.. I've always wanted to play it so hopefully a minor miracle will occur and it'll end up on GOG. -_^

You are not lame for finishing Final Fantasy X-2, but you are lame for not finishing any other Final Fantasy aside X-2. Now, get back to "work", you slacker! :P

Yes it does. In fact, I believe that the contents of the UMD are more or less the same as what you get from the PSN version in the US, minus a warning screen in Japanese at the start. But the game lets you choose between English or Japanese at the very start - no Japanese reading skills necessary.
I beat that game, but have basically no memory of it; I remember that at the time, I thought it was rather generic, with a job system that was possibly influential, but not especially well-implemented. I'm kind of surprised that this, of all the early Final Fantasy games, is getting a PC port.
