SCPM: In light of their recent comments, by 'PC' I take it they mean Steam + Square Enix account. To play a single-player game. :(
Heh, yeah *roll eyes*

darthvader39560: Meh. Rather play it on SNES emulator.
Uh...the game that is talked about here is the actual Final Fantasy III, not VI that was called III in the US. Also, the original FF III was a Famicom (NES) game that was never released outside of Japan. The DS remake was the first time the game was available to non-Japanese audiences.

'twas a NES game.

I'll save my enthusiasm for the moment it comes to GOG which I doubt will happen. I would probably buy it day one if it did though.

Remember thats this 3 for DS not 6 that features Kefka, Terra, etc.

And if it does come to GOG why did they start with the DS version of III? Why not start with the PSP/iOS versions of 1 4 and 6?

So I've read. I don't really mind that it's not 6. Of course the only reason I say that is that (the real) 3 is the only one I've played.

Considering all of the positivity I've seen towards 6, I am kind of surprised that hasn't been released for PC yet.

Edit: For those interested, FFIII had a wishlist item. Vote here!

The DS version of III was ported to both PSP and Android, so who knows what they're thinking.

In any case, the DS version of Final Fantasy III is actually the main series game I've played the most. Neat game, but I already got it, so idgaf.
Wait, this isn't 6? :(

Stupid crazy numbering system >_>

HypersomniacLive: There may be choice - see here :-P
Wait, didn't they removed SecuRom from those releases?
Bah, if only it was Final Fantasy 6-IV The Return of Bolt Ultimate PC Edition SecuRom Steam Exclusive Is This Still The Title-VIII Reboot Remake I Love Turn-Based Fighting It's So Cool And Fashionable Bazinga! Squaresoft Was The Real Deal Ultra Collector's HD Pack... I don't care for this watered-down DS port.

Those names were only ever used for the North American SNES releases. Name adjustment was abolished starting with Final Fantasy VII (which used the correct name worldwide); ever since then all re-releases/remakes of the old games use the correct names (the Virtual Console versions probably still show the adjusted names in-game due to being ROMs under emulation).

The Square Enix e-Store versions have SecuROM whereas the Steam versions don't; both versions require logging into a Square Enix account in order to play.

This, not a fan of the DRM practices they have on FF games. Not much more to say, although the fact that they are porting it to PC at all is good news in and of itself.
Another one here who would buy if it came here, but since they don't trust us with "their" game, I wont trust them with "my" money.

a bit offtopic but was there a number in Japan for Final Fantasy: Mystic Quest?

ah.. Sorry. The FF3/FF6 thing always confused me.

Because of idiot marketing by Nintendo/Squaresoft ("hey, let's name it Final Fantasy 3 so people can wonder where Final Fantasy 4, 5 and 6 were when we release Final Fantasy 7") I wrote (JP) in the title. Seems it didn't help. :-(
