Is there anyway to fix the pixelated backgrounds?

And how do you use the character booster?

How do you register the game?
Backgrounds will forever be pixelated. It was saved at *insert old resolution here* and it'll forever be that resolution, only poorly upscaled.

Now SE MIGHT have the original art assets saved and could redo the pre-rendered backgrounds, but haha, not gonna happen.
Not 100% sure how the character booster works. You register the game at first startup when you enter your key after logging into your Square Enix account and then I think you can register it again for rewards or whatever they give you for registering games at square-enix.com or wherever.

But yeah, like Frank said, the backgrounds are forever one resolution unless they decide to do a full graphical overhaul. The only reason that the models aren't pixelated is because models can be scaled and anti-aliased much easier.
There's a mod that filters the backgrounds in a way that makes them look smoother.

Basically, he used a Photoshop filter to upscale and smooth out the backgrounds.
Beyond that, no, there really isn't.

That link is to the actual backgrounds that have been converted to the new format.
It's a large download, though, but includes instructions.

This is if you don't want to filter the backgrounds yourself with the photoshop script since this is the end result and is easier.

I don't know if it's right to talk about this here. But on a legally owned version of this game, is there any way to get around having to log in online every time you start the game?

Also, what happened to the music? It sounds like crap in some parts.

When you say "what happened", what are you comparing it to? If you're comparing to the original PC release then I have no idea, but if you're comparing to the original original version on PSX, the PC version's music is general MIDI. It only sounds right if you load specific soundfonts.

If the new version still uses General MIDI, then instead of using the basic low-quality Microsoft GS Wavetable (software) Synth that every Windows comes with, either use a General MIDI sound card with a better GM patch set, or install BASSMIDI and download some good GM/GS/XG sound patch set. It will make it sound great.

But in case the new version uses some internal synth and sound system, then probably nothing can be done (unless someone makes a mod for it).

Or use the actual official soundfonts if they're available somewhere.

Hmm, that's a possibility. Or they might have just replaced it with mp3s, if they're low bitrate that could explain the sounding squashed.

Does this work in that re-re-re-release? =) Or is it in original but I guess why wouldn't it work.. I mean that newest was and is so close to original, a bit smoother polygons but that's it and booster don't know.. It is pretty easy game anyway if you somewhat level up.

Maybe they brickwalled them?

As a sound engineer, *shudder*.

All you get to hear in purgatory.
Noooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo!
Any Idea on how to stop the sign in on the re-release?
(Yes I bought it, I just find it to be annoying)
