Jesus what a drama queen Fish is. People like him and Jonathan Blow need to lighten the fuck up. And stay away from Twitter, it's not hard.
All right, guys. I tried to be all mature and not post it, but I was working under the assumption that someone else would. We are nearly two pages in, and it hasn't happened yet. I cant pretend to be a better person than I actually am for any longer.

DaCostaBR: -OP-
I don't think he'll actually cancel it, but the whole thing has been peculiar, to say the least.
Phil Fish is an incredibly immature hammy prat, news at 11.

Goatbrush: I just saw that an image of Fish's timeline was posted on the reddit thread about this. I was going to post it here before considering it could be seen as a dick move seeing as he locked his profile, but it is out there if you want to go check it out.

It wasn't as bad as I was expecting to be honest.

Edit: I'm also wondering if the cancellation was because of all this, or if something else is up and maybe the reason he got so pissed on twitter is because he was already in a bad mood about it. There's a lot of ways to spin what happened, and I doubt we'll ever find out. It's still sad when someone stops creating entertainment which a lot of people enjoy though, no matter the reasoning.

DaCostaBR: Just read it. I won't deny that I see worse on forums on a regular basis, but still, we do expect better from someone in his position.

Apparently, whatever the Beer guy said was directed both at him and Jonathan Blow, hence BlowFish, but we never see him involved in things like this. I really think Blow is a perfect point of comparison, they're both indie devs who no doubt went through a lot of scrutiny, but handled it in different ways. I would also agree that Fish has to deal with more, concerning people's criticism or even attacks, but that is a result of how he handled himself in the past.

Finally, I hear he has dealt with depression, so that explains his behavior somewhat. Also, though I absolutely hate people making amateur diagnostics over the internet, I wouldn't be surprised if he was bipolar, what with his occasional manic behavior over small things.
I'm quite versed in this given that I'm on medication for it. Quitting your project due to being upset or can't deal with other people? Totally defensible as a depression move. Being an asshole to others on a regular basis? Not so much.
Normally I'd side with Fish with some comment like "gamers are douchebags" but seriously, just stay off Twitter. You'll never get treated well there if you're ANY kind of content creator. It's hard to have sympathy for Fish in this instance when he chooses to communicate via a format that's basically designed for flame wars.
Fez 2 cancelled... and nothing of value has been lost.

Seriously though, why do I even know about these talentless hacks? Braid was the most overhyped substanceless POS I played, designed for stupid people to feel smart because they can solve trivial "puzzles" while sleep-inducing "music", that sounds like it was composed by an insomnia patient, loops in the background. I haven't played Fez and I have no intention of ever playing it, but it looks to be the same thing, except with discount graphics made from leftover rejected spriteworks.

He's been an ass sometimes but so has everyone else on the planet. Me, you, the guy he was arguing with, everyone. When you're put in the limelight you're expected to be a saint who never offends anyone, which is unrealistic and not doable for everyone. I feel for him and dislike those who bash him endlessly.

That said, don't give a shit about Fez so whatever.

I mostly agree, but he really should have stayed off Twitter. He wouldn't be the first person who got horribly ruined by a Twitter gaffe.
Don't worry, guys, Fez II will be made for sure- Fish isn't going to let go of something which will make him some bank; it's never gonna happen.

This cancel announcement is an attention stunt, or a misguided way to "punish" fans, so they would create backlash against the people who criticized Fish. High school bs.
Have any of you seen Indie Game: The Movie? It seems bickering and drama follow Phil Fish where ever he goes.
To lash out and insult a couple of indie developers simply because they declined to comment on Xbox One indie policies before they were even announced seems like a new low for the gaming media.
They were all pretty much major assholes, both Phil Fish and Marcus Beer. And they both relied on it since we knew them. One thinks he's this enfant terrible of an auteur, which some people like, the other "has to be an asshole" because he's a gaming reporter in the internet days, the internet is ruthless and vile and so is he, "he's just telling it like it is", and all that crap, something that other people seem to like as well.

Fish had it coming, but Beer is just going to get away with it with no repercussion whatsoever, and that just isn't right.

Like Adam Orth. I agree with you that people in his position should really stay off Twitter or at least keep it private.

A similar incident happened to Doug Tennapel while he was working on the Armikrog KS campaign. He shared his prejudicious view about homossexual marriage (he's a christian) and caused a huge backlash which almost killed the KS project. Seriously, i'm a backer even though i disagree completely with his opinion on gay marriage, but why the fuck did he need to post his unpopular view on Twitter? For fuck's sake, developers need to learn to keep their opinions for themselves, especially in a public social site.
