Right then. Steam has introduced a new way to pay for stuff. It's called and it works like this: you go down to a convenience shop (in the UK and Ireland, one that has a PayPoint), you tell them that you want a card and hand over �10 or �25 in cash (insert your own currency here). You then go to the web store (e.g. Steam, although apparently Facebook also works if you're into that sort of thing), type in the card number and then the credit on the card is used to pay for your purchases. Essentially, it's a gift card for the internet. Considering that apparently it'll [url=http://www.paysafecard.com/exchange/exchange.php?language=en]convert the currency, automatically, GOG's strict US Dollar only policy shouldn't be a problem.
Considering it's vast availability in Western Europe, I think it's a good idea to follow suit.

I see one good side on this: it can be used to circumvent certain region restrictions. I'm sure you can get a paysafecard from the UK and pay with it using a Belgian credit card. Then the paysafecard would be British and would let me pay in pounds, surely?

AFAIK the currency is converted to whatever the web shop is using. So, as far as the retailer is concerned, you're paying in Euros.
Of course if the web shop sells in pounds you'll pay in pounds, if they sell in dollars you'll pay in dollars etc.

That's what I mean ;) but Steam is heavily region locked and if you got a British IP, you pay in pounds but if your IP is British and your credit card is Belgian, Steam will go "no way". With this card it would work regardless because this card would be British, not Belgian :)

Oh right. Doesn't appear to be any region restriction on the cards themselves, and apparently the conversion is done at paysafecard's side, not the retailer. So yeah. You just have to find a convenience store that accepts Belgian credit cards.

Oh, Mastercard is universal :) And hopefully you can get the cards online.

Ehh... nope. Appears to be brick and mortar shops only. Officially at least. Still, plenty of places to get them (assuming you're in Brussels in this case).

How hard is it to get a Visa or Mastercard in Europe? That's an honest question, as I don't know.
Ever since we got Visa/Mastercard Debit cards in the US it's pretty damn rare to find someone who doesn't have one and is over the age of 18.

It's not about obtaining a Visa or Mastercard debit/credit card in Europe; the problem appears when you're not in the country that issued the card when you want to buy a game. For example, if my card is issued in the UK and I want to buy something from Steam while being in France (thus the Euro part of the shop) I am unable as the billing address is an UK one while the IP address is a French one. You can authorize credit cards to be used in a different region than the one they're registered in (so you can use your UK card in France) by opening a support ticket asking for that (and I got mine authed in around a day).
