Has anyone seen this!? It attacked me last night while I was in here, though I'm sure I picked it up on one of the "dispresputable" sites I visit. What scared me is yesterday morning, in this forum, I joked about pirating and while I tried to make it clear I was only joking, I thought for a sec the Feds had no sense of humor and had actually siezed me computer! Turns out it is just a really nast malware virus. SOB locked up my system and it took me hours just to get back to a previous config so I could get in and root it out. I think I got it. I hope I got it. Please god, tell me I got it.

SO anyway I have to re-download all the groovy stuff I've bought here in the past four days but if thats the worst of it, I'll live. I only posted about it to warn everyone to stay clear of me as I seem to be under surveillance and I don't want to take any of you down with me. Ha!

As for your problem that happened to one of my dad's colleagues but it was a picture of the Swedish Police that asks for money to unlock. Apparently, just recently they grabbed a couple of guys that began this particular black mail operation (originated in the US) and they had accumulated approximately $1.6 billion if I recall correctly. Modern criminals sure are getting smarter but they don't seem to be getting any wiser.

This one wanted 200 USD to unlock my system. Good thing someone else living here had a laptop and I was able to google the threat and see it was a scam.

Haha, I wonder how many would pay if they only asked for 1$ or something and then instantly sent a key to unlock it but still keep the malware to spread to other computers. :P

Thats the kicker. Paying the ransom doesn't unlock anything, it just changes the FBI threat into a blank page and leaves the computer locked.

This is totally not GOG related but since I have everyones attention: I got all my specs back to where they were, including making GOG #1 in my fave bar (brown nose), but my google toolbar is gone. I mean its active and enabled and there is a space where it should be with a "x" to close it, but there is no google prompt to type into and no pretty google logo. Anyone?
