The Dark Tower Series by Stephen King (as noted above)
The Harry Potter Series by JK Rowling
The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy Series by Douglas Adams (Although to be fair, I prefer the unabridged books on CD with Adams reading - he can pronounce the names of the planets he' made up...)

The World According to Garp - John Irving
Watership Down - Richard Adams

Recluce series by L.E. Modesitt, Jr.
Pern series by Anne McCaffrey
Asian saga (Shogun, etc.) by James Clavell
Pretty much everything from Isaac Asimov
The Call of Cthulhu by H.P Lovecraft.
Catch 22
Its really not the sort of thing I generally like to read, but The Romance of the Three Kingdoms is my favorite. Its the most epic thing ever written, Im sure.
