Once Upon a Time in America is a film from 1984, and Brazil is from 1985.

Yeah I know its a bit cheesy and I cant stand Grace Jones, I actually seen Destroyer before Barbarian back in the day so it is one of my favorites just because of it actually being Conan and the first one I seen out of the 2. I know its the whole rose tinted look back on it as it is actually quite bad but hey its not as bad as some others like Red Sonja & Beastmaster.

I do also remember one called The Sword and the Sorcerer from the 80's, the 3 bladed sword and the bit at the beginning in the room that has all the skulls on the wall. Skulls bit still freaks me out to this day!

I'm sorry, but there's only one BEST '80s movie.

Oh my, I somehow thought that was an early 90's movie. It certainly is the best 80's movie.

Dunno, I'm not really a fan of the 80s. I know about the classics and kind of enjoyed them for the most part back in the days, but I can't think of any that I'd actually count among my favorites. And of all the decades of the 20th century, I find the 80s movies have aged the worst. I can hardly stand to look at most of them, let alone stomach the cheesy dialogues so many of them seem to feature. (Or maybe I'm just thinking of the action movies, because they were so prominent in the 80s ...)

I guess Blade Runner is still cool though. As is Do the Right Thing.

And I have a soft spot for A Chinese Ghost Story, Ghostbusters and the first Back to the Future. Hm, anything else? Oh, I totally forgot about Gremlins. And My Neighbor Totoro, I love that one! And Ferris Bueller's Day Off. I guess I actually do like several 80's movies after all. :)

Checking other people's posts, I remembered even more of them, like Batman, Who Framed Roger Rabbit and The Great Mouse Detective.

And then there's the goofy Chicken and Duck Talk, fun to watch with German voiceovers, hehe. And <span class="bold">&Ouml;dipussi</span>, of course - best movie of the 80's! ;)

Anyone remember the 80s movie, Invaders From Mars?
Maybe Conan The Destroyer is a good movie. It could be just Conan The Barbarian is so epic, that it makes all other similar movies look like crap.

Back to the Future. To think we're just three years away from Marty arriving to flying cars and floating hoverboards. I actually went to see this on a movie theater that no longer exists (notice the "a" in front of "movie theater", there were no multiplexes back then) and the JVC people were launching their brand over here, giving pamphlets away with prizes for people who could tell them what brand the camera Marty was handling was. Oh, how I loved (and hated) that 'to be continued' cliffhanger.

While Jamyskis listed the greats, I have to agree with you on stating this little gem. It's cheesy, and incredibly eigthies, but so good because of it.

There's an episode of Supernatural, where Dean introduces himself with his fake badge as "Alonso Moseley". I laughed so hard.

Oh, forgot about that one. One of the few movies of its kind I really like. Fitzcarraldo is decent, too, as are A Fish Called Wanda and Grave of the Fireflies.

But yeah, I agree with Leroux, the 80s were a shit decade for movies, and frankly, many other things, too. Too "pro-cultural" and tame to regularily spawn great art, at least in the West.

I am pleased that someone else actually recognises how great Midnight Run is, did you know that DeNiro is going to reprise his role as Jack Walsh for a proper sequel, apparently he started thinking about it when filming Little Fockers. They are currently also trying to get Grodin back and the other Bounty Hunter.

I remember seeing that episode of Supernatural, think its from Season 5 (last years) and me and my wife picked up on it immediately, absolutely awesome mention! Dean is Moseley and Cas is actually Eddie Moscone, so its 2 from Midnight Run!
