So I'm looking at buying the Fallout:NVUE

There is a green bar on Steam telling me that "You already own Fallout: New Vegas Ultimate Edition"

Well... I don't. I own Fallout: New Vegas plain old generic day one release edition.

Anyone have any idea why Steam is telling me that I own it? And if I buy it, will I have any weird problems?

I noticed that. I'm guessing they just rewrote the product in the database because they are not planning to sell the non-ultimate game any more.

But as for what happens when you buy it, I have no idea. The way Steam/Zenimax has handled the Steam release of F:NV is absolutely puzzling.

EDIT: No, wait, they're still selling the non-ultimate. Messy.

why would you want to buy the full Ultimate Edition if you already have the base game? just get the DLC you're missing. it's been 70% or 75% off before so it'll go there again.
I have fallout new vegas vanilla - How much is the ultimate edition priced? Is it cheaper than merely getting all the DLC?...I ask since here in India the game is banned and I had someone gift the game to me earlier.

Take a look here. It is cheaper than all DLC combined, but that's if you include the two item packs. Otherwise, it's the same price.

Sure... I wasn't really concerned about the price. I just wanted an all-in-one package. But I've read up a little more and realize there's no difference between UE and just buying the DLCs, so I'll just buy the DLCs. I'm kinda busy right now anyway, so I'll just wait for a sale. Thanks for the link. That pretty much solves the issue for me.

Well, I'll buy the weapon packs if they offer a massive sale... but I really only care about the four story add ons... That was a helpful link too :-)
The interesting bit for German users is that (afaik) the ultimate edition is uncensored and with English language, while the standard version is censored and German-only. Some people reported that they can't switch to the uncensored version now, because they already owned the standard version...
I bought the DLC for it in the last sale, only one I havnt got is the last one they done, only halfway through the main campaign at the min anyhow so no biggie. They were £1.50 each, looking forward to doing the Old World Blues expansion, apparently its like being in an old B Movie.

Next time you see FNV on offer in daily deal or one of their many sales just visit the page and the DLC will be listed near the bottom, normally they put the DLC out really cheap when the main game is on offer.

Another thing with Steam is that when you own a DLC pack it will automatically download it if you were to download the main game again. You dont have to download each bit one at a time, so once you own all the DLC effectively you have the Ultimate Edfition.
I vaguely remember the base game was pretty cheap (i got for $20 unless im wrong)during Xmas sales as well as the DLC (wow $13 normal price for Old World Blues, Lonesome Road and Honest Hearts each is a bit steep).
Might be a good deal if someone wants the whole lots (wasnt OWB and LR the only two DLC worth getting?)

Yeah OWB and LR are the best ones to get. Lonesome road actually finishes off the couriers journey and is the one I am missing. The others are just churned out stuff that a fan would want so they have the complete set but not to good according to reviews.

Just watched the video for OWB again on Steam, looks like something out of Twilight Zone or Outer Limits. Might actually head off there to see what its all about, its supposed to be the best DLC for the game.

The New Vegas DLCs are each so different it's pretty much impossible to pick the best one, it's very, very individual. I really liked Honest Hearts and thought Lonesome Road was absolutely brilliant, but OWB was a very meh affair for me, for example. If you want to play the DLCs at all, you really should play all of them (and their stories are linked to each other, too, so ideally in release order).

Interesting. Might look into OH during the next steam sales :). Is the release order, the order in which the dlc should be played etc?
