That sums up perfectly actually. Don't get me wrong, the base game for New Vegas is exactly the same as Fallout 3 so I can not shit on it that much BUT it just was not as interesting to explore. I remember my first playthrough I completely missed Bob also so it was a fantastic surprise when I found something new a second time round haha.

O yeah, I seem to remember wondering whether or not it might be a hoax. Didn't exactly expect a lush forest lurking in the corner of the wasteland hehe. I'll probably give NV a go sometime, just to see what it is all about.

I thought it was too random to be a part of the game. Though not quite as weird as Gaaaary!

You can play a lot worse than New Vegas.
I'm surprised I did not see a random silly rant about it being completely consolized and all that shite. :P

Oh dear god, Gary? The clones from vault 108? That part seriously creeped me out, more than any part of the game. Actually not quite. The creepiest part was that Dunwich building and all the logs leading up to it.

Gary was pretty creepy. Though the biggest problem was I did not know whether to laugh or to be paranoid about "Gaaaary!" jumping round the many corners. A quick note... you actually find a Gary in New vegas on a lab table.

I love it when lore gets connected that way over games in a series. Like Harold for instance: Mutant in Fallout 1; Mutant with a branch growing out of his head in Fallout 2; Tree in Fallout 3 XD

Fallout 2 > Fallout 1 = FNV > Tactics > ??? > Fallout 3

Not huge fan of Fallout 3 (like at all), it's definitely not a terrible game all things considered, but it's a rather boring one - meh characters, facepalming dialogue at times, uninteresting quests, plot that didn't make sense, too much filler combat... Point Lookout was pretty solid though.

Although I finished the first Fallout games multiple times and they are my all time faves, I still enjoyed Fallout 3 (at least when it didn't crash), but if you want a really good RPG, freedom, excellent storyline and a unique athmosphere, you should settle with the old ones.
Get them and apply the community patches (including the HD-support).
The "Fallout collection" (FA1+2+Tactics on a DVD) from the White Label on Amazon marketplace should still be a possibility to get it, now that it's gone from GoG thanks to Bethesda's bullshit.

I loved Fallout 1, Fallout 2, Fallout Tactics when they came out.

Many years later, I missed the Fallout franchise, so when Fallout 3 was released, I thought it was fine. Not great, but fine. DLCs were fine too, in my opinion back then.

But when I played Fallout New Vegas (again at release), I realized how I really missed the Fallout franchise. Fallout 3 was just hiding nostalgia, as a clumsy patchwork hiding the void behind it. I realized that while I played every Fallout many times before Fallout 3, I didn't come back to Fallout 3 before New Vegas. My nostalgia deceived me when I played Fallout 3, and New Vegas really made me realize that. I don't consider New Vegas as a Fallout game superior to Fallout 1 or Fallout 2 (I don't compare to Tactics since gameplay is different). But I am thankful for Obsidian and New Vegas to make me stop being delusional on the whole Fallout franchise.

Yes... I own and still haven't played Risen, Fable, Gothic 3, Witcher, Witcher 2 and Fallout 3 - Wanderer's Edition (awesome mod!), Stalker, Oblivion and never finished Morrowind due to lack of time...

I have become a casual gamer although I so do love RPGs that take a lot of time...

Fallout 3 - I'm find this boring, cannot skip the tutorial, and the worst, your need to be constatly reparing the weapons. Is absurd the low operational live of YOUR weapons.
