People think it's a bug but what they are doing is tipping off the mole and therefore failing the quest. Ask the two sergeants about it and the dodgy supply sergeant. Then ask the sniper outside who tells you about lights in the control tower. What ever you do don't mention the tower to you know who. Wait hiding behind a container by the tower on your own (no companions) at 1am and you will see him walking towards it. Activate a StealthBoy and enter the tower and you will hear him on the radio and the quest will update. Kill him, get the codes and run to the monorail. There is a vent on the monorail right in front of you, disarm with the codes QUICKLY! Job done, return to Hsu.

Important tip, its INSIDE the car. Took me ages to find that bloody thing

I didnt play Fallout 1 and 2 back when they were released. There's no nostalgia there for me. They still seem better and amazingly, more believable than these movie-like Bethesda style Fallouts everyone and their console love.

Yea, there are definitely instances where you just have to smile. I guess that comes down to the writing... but those are just that. Instances. Another one that struck me as somewhat touching was when Boone finally tells you what happened to his wife.

In general though, I'm talking about the meat of the game. I listened to long monologues from House and Caesar and they are just empty. Or shallow. Even on a lesser scale... the Boomer lady or the Brotherhood elder... I don't know man, it just didn't sit well with me. I'm not picking sides because I think one of them has a valid argument or outlook on the world... I'm just doing it because I have to.

A small example... The quest Come Fly With Me. Really funny quest with an amusing outcome. And fun to play for sure. It's addition into the main quest line? Senseless.

I'm at 40 hours played now, level 27 I think. Working on the main story now, coming close to the end.

A little story of my wondering around yesterday.
Went to check out an abandoned train yard south-east of the strip. At first glance it seemed like a quiet place, no enemies around. Upon approach I started hearing heavy breathing from somewhere at my 6 closing in , so I spin around, pulling out my anti-materiel rifle to see a young deathclaw heading for me. "Nothing to worry about" I think to myself as I put a 50 cal slug in his head (instant kill, love this rifle). So I turn back around to face the way of the main building of the said abandoned train yard only to see 3 deathclaws and 4 young deathcaws already up on me ready to jump. Mind you that encounter with the young deathclaw couldn't have taken more than 8/10 seconds.
I didn't even have time to think "oh shit" before I was dead. XD

Then less stupid be more precise. I found really stupid shooting raiders in the head with a shotgun with VATS at not so far range, some text going "Raider head crippled" and the raider would just nod his or her head like some flies were flying in front of them. That was just plain stupid.

The first time I did the quest I couldn't figure out how to get the mole to appear, and when I finally I accidentally interrupted him before he could say anything about the train. If you do that he'll attack (assuming you're on the NCR's side), and you'll have to kill him. When you get back to Hsu you'll be told that the mole has probably planted a bomb and have to run and disarm it. Presumably the time spent talking to Hsu is the justification used for missing the train.

Well you shoot people in the head in F1 & 2 without killing them and they don't even stagger there

I don't care what the haters say, I'm still going to buy it.

But you have to recognize that at least in the old isometric style it doesnt look as stupid as in a game that's trying to go for a more realistic approach, like the first person Fallout 3..

Once you're in New Vegas, the cool shit begins.

Also, if you're one of the five people (or almost everyone on NMA) who finds Bethsoft's iteration of Fallout crap, I implore you to get that Vault Boy toy out of your ass and OPEN YOUR MIND.

It looks identical to me. Someone gets shot in the face and shrugs it off because of math, it looks stupid in any perspective

Indeed, the addition of the rep system and the ability to screw yourself over with one of the other factions really makes things interesting. I've found myself struggling to do something then had a bit of inspiration and finish it much easier. The addition of pragmatists to the game really made the people a lot more believable. Even the Fiends who are roughly equivalent tot he raiders in FO3 are somewhat believable.

Seeing that Nightkin in what I assume is drag totally made my day.
