Grr, the human need for sleep has long disrupted me when I'm having fun. Right up to the last stretch of the game (everyone I pass comments that shit will happen any day now) and I need sleep! I never should have picked hardcore mode because I'm also getting thirsty

Delixe: Same idiots that complained Fallout 3 was too short. If you play nothing but the main quests in FO3 or New Vegas you are doing it wrong.
Waaa Waaa! I didn't want to be in a post apocalyptic wasteland! This game SUCKS!!

I've heard even with most sidequests though it's only about 30 hours.

It does suck, when compared to Fallout 1 and 2.

Revya: Have to say "That Gun" sold me on NV :)

StingingVelvet: It's neat... wish it was more powerful, but then I guess it wouldn't be so easy to get. As of right now though a 44 Magnum works much better as my pistol.
If you get the right stats and perks as you can get its damege up, the only thing is that the gun should be magazine loaded.

I will probably finish the game with it at my side :)

spindoctor: Unfortunately, it's also the only example of great writing I've seen in the game so far. I'm level 24, about 33-34 hours in and nearing the end of the game I suppose. Nothing else has stood out to me in the writing department.
Really? I think the entire game is well-written, and have had many, many moments where some dialogue makes me laugh or makes me ponder something.

Not really, remove nostalgia from the equation and you'll find the games are really not very different

Well... turn-based combat to real-time combat is a pretty massive change. Everything else though I would agree, it's more similar than people admit (New Vegas anyway).

They all suck compared to Wasteland!

I'd have to agree.

Realtime with pause I'd say..I usually use VATS..especially necessary on Very Hard. A very good choice for the series when done properly.

Well I just finished the sunset sarsaparilla quest and got the unique weapon, holy crap! Dangerous in the extreme but the most ammo guzzling weapon I've ever seen!

I like VATS and it's a well done nod to the turn-based originals, but the combat is still entirely different from the first two games.
How can people complain about that ending?? It was great!
I've got to remember getting that light-footed perk next time. Who'd have thought there were mines everywhere?

Anyway, I didn't like VATS in F3 and I don't like VATS in NV. There's just something wrong about seeing a 97% shotgun blast up someones nose do 2 HPs worth of damage.

I also seem to be encountering rather more burnt-out deloreans than I expected.
Got my CE a few days ago, damn if it doesn't interfere with my studying.

Having a blast despite the lack of news, the poor optimization and the general feeling of being unfinished (just very slightly, in this case - mostly it's the dialogue trees that seem weird) that always seems to permeat Obsidian games. I need to learn to use more backup saves, though - I've had to redo the same three-and-a-half-hour stretch twice now because I wasn't satisfied with some of the quest outcomes.

Kind of weird that Flamers are now considered Energy Weapons - if anything the Big Guns category needs more low-end weapons, I think. Not that I minded last night when my low-strength science geek character got addicted to Buffout...

(Quest spoiler - one of the Camp McCarran quests)

I get the feeling that the quest with the control tower is supposed to end badly if you don't eavesdrop properly. I've seen claims that it's a bug, but it makes sense to me that you botched the investigation and happen to be just a moment late to stop the bomb from going off. I tried to redo the final segment from when you report back to Hsu about the spy having been taken care of maybe twenty times or so, and almost every time the train took off as soon as the platform finished loading.

Just some random thoughts about the game.
