I may be wrong, but I'm pretty sure I've heard patches taking a month to get approved by Microsoft, which isn't ideal for pushing through quick fixes to large problems (or really anything).

Don't be a fool. There are people playing Fallout 3 with a gamepad on the PC. I am sure people can play the game on a console just fine. It's not like it's a freaking text adventure.

The console version has different GUI (obviously) and the camera is closer to the party than the PC version. Not exactly like a third person shooter game, but not Baldurs Gate either.

Don't cry... It's just... it would take A LONG ASS TIME for me to download the game on steam.... so..... while waiting I started playing it on ps3 :( and well now... like 10+ hours into it... /sniffle, I just... /cry it was just easy to put the disc in... i swear... I mean, i do have it on pc. i just.......... 15+GIG! that's like one week solid downloading....

Come on... you are comparing Obsidian, aka Bioware-light, to... Bethesda! how can you be surprised ? I am sure that even the writing of the New Vegas readme.txt file is much better than Fallout 3. :)

I think what he was getting at was "How the hell can you play any of those games without player made mods/fixes that make the game better"

I know I wouldn't of played either of those games for long without mods, especially vanilla Oblivion with it's bland and generic fantasy world.

What trusteft said + mods and better controls/graphics of course. It was the lead platform..buying it on anything else is just a bit silly.

Well, I prefer the PC interface and I have zero interest in mods for all games, so I guess I have no issue with playing games on a console.

It was an impulse buy for PS3, the PX had it, and Steam was downloading at like 10kbs that day so I said......... well shit.... lemme start playing it now.. and then whenever it gets done downloading I'll change over to PC.

The problem was after downloading it the first time something was wrong and I couldnt get it to run, so I deleted it....... /sigh

I just had not gotten around to redwonloading it yet :( I know.... I should... get with the program and do it already, Right now, er last I checked I was about 2gig downloaded of New Vegas, so after that downloads ill work on gettin DAO again.

that and our post office is now taking 6-8 weeks to get anything in... which sucks.

You don't have to be online to play but you do have to be signed-in to Steam. To play offline you need to be online in Steam, then choose "go offline" from the menu. This will restart Steam in offline mode and Fallout New Vegas still works fine.

Edit: There are also simple exe swaps out there which remove the Steam requirement when playing but do not remove the initial Steam activation requirement and install, if you would rather not run Steam while you play. If one of these does not yet exist for New Vegas I am sure it will soon.

I love how they all says that they have implemented Steam/Securom/whatever in a "as light and unobtrusive as possible" way while in the end they implemented it exactly the same way that anybody else.

Well I was hopping (with very little hope) that maybe they would have implemented Steamwork the same way they implemented Securom on F3 (ie only on the launcher not in the game itself) but apparently it's not the case... well looks like I will have to borrow my brother PS3 version.
