Summit: What annoys me most is the fact that the game is on torrents, ready to play for all the pirates and i have to wait 'till friday for fucking steam to activate mine. That is really going to encourage people to be legit gamers

Lobsang1979: That is how piracy thrives, though, by playing on the entitlement issues and poor patience that most people have. There is a release date, such is life, so would a little patience hurt?

I'm not trying to rub salt into wounds, just pointing out that it is the temptation to jump the gun that allows piracy to thrive.
I bought it from steam, because it's tied to it anyway. If I was to buy the retail version this dicussion would be pointless. It isn't in stores yet. But the game is pre-downloaded on my computer since sunday so it's kind of ridiculous i can't play it. It's not about me being impatient. I propably wouldn't find time to play it anyway. But since i own the product and have it downloaded i should have the possibility.

Starkrun: Can anyone confirm you can launch the game from the App Folder in steam without steam running like Fallout 3?
No you have to be logged in. I mean you could always download a crack, which is what i propably end up doing.

Yay for mods!

Anyway, I'll be playing this game a bit later than most. Looking forward to it though, and will probably have the advantage of major bugs being patched out.

EDIT: Aaaaaaaand a female nude mod has already made it to the top spot at NVNexus.

trusteft: Anyone got this for the PS3? How is it?
Pretty good. That texture bug is back in that when traveling the Mojave sometimes you get really low res patches of ground. VATS at times seems to not actually register shots and I did have it freeze up once. But so far it's not too bad definitely playable and I haven't run into any showstoppers yet. Fortunately the only time it froze I had just come into a building and it didn't refreeze upon load.

Due to the annoying bug in VATS, I've actually found it easier in most cases to aim using the new aiming mechanics.

Thank you. I am trying to decide if I will get this for the PC or PS3 (I have a 360 but meh), but since I will wait till Christmas it is nice to get as many opinions as possible. :)

Not a problem, just realize that the PS3 is going to be the last to get the DLC again, and I think that MS worked out some sort of exclusivity deal meaning that the Xbox will be the first to get the DLC in general.

That being said, IIRC the PS3 was less buggy than the PC with Fallout3, and I have the feeling that's the case with New Vegas as well.

I'm pretty sure that's a really subjective statement... I have heard of endless problems with the PS3 versions and the PC versions have always run fine for me (and look and play a lot better naturally).

Quite possibly, it's just that there's essentially one PS3 box and a near infinite number of PCs to get screwy. Consequently you're not going to see that level of bugginess in a release PS3 game ever. I can't recall ever having played a PC game as buggy as Fallout3.

Nearly all the complaints I've heard from console users about Fallout3 revolved around the DLC and virtually none of it about the base game itself.

hedwards:
Of course what bugs there are on consoles are a lot harder to patch out.

Depends on what you call bugginess I guess... reports I read have the PS3 version suffering from low framerate and texture issues, which I don't have to worry about. Most of the time I see the PS3 version referred to as "buggy piece of shit" and similar things.

I'm not trying to turn this into a PC vs. console pissing match, you're right that overall there are more technical issues in PC gaming in general. I'm just saying I had no problems running Fallout 3 and it looked and performed much better than the PS3 version, so acting as if it's a given that the PS3 version gives the smoother performance of the two is a subjective statement.

Why? Only one set of hardware and automatic patching. At least of the two big HD consoles. It's much easier.

I've heard multiple devs say it's much easier to do on PC. I think it's to do with the QA process. Might be more to it.

Indeed. How ANYONE could play Oblivion or F3 games on console is just beyond my comprehension.

Will get NV much later. April maybe?
Man, the writing for this game is just so much better... met a girl in a bar a bit ago and she was just so real because what she said sounded like something a girl like that would say. SO much better than Fallout 3.

Very happy.

People that played Dragon Age on consoles make me weep.
Apart from a few minor bugs this game is sounding really good so far gameplay wise.
