CymTyr: No offense, but how does Bethesda's bugs relate to Obsidian's games? They're two different companies. Gearbox has bugs in its new releases too ;)

EDIT: Also I seem to remember Bethesda and Obsidian both patching games that needed patches pretty quickly. I don't think I've run into some of the complaints you have about FO3.

CymTyr: Oh, ok, I see where you're coming from. If you're concerned about bugs I would wait a couple weeks post-launch to get the game. Personally as a fan of the series all the way back to Wasteland, I am THRILLED to see it back in the hands of the people who created the Fallout franchise.
I probably overstated it a bit, I was playing the PC version which for whatever reason seemed to be far more bugged than the console versions. My PS3 version of the GOTY edition which I got because I didn't want to give MS any more money was a much, much better experience.

And I'm getting the console version this time around as, I actually have a PS3 whereas I didn't have one when I got FO3.

I'll end it here, but Bethesda didn't bother fixing any of their bugs after release, I'm guessing it was less broken than Borderlands, but last time I loaded up FO3 on my PC it was still just as broken as it was upon release, just with a few minor fixes.

You know, you prepurchased the game on Steam, then you preload the game which is essentially downloading something like 100% of the game and waiting for it to decrypt at launch, a boring process that slows down your computer and freezes Steam for about three hours.

Here's the ironic thing. Everyone I've seen has some complaint about the PS3 GotY version being bugged up to the knees. While PCs get away with relatively few complains (especially considering there's an unofficial patch now). I wouldn't be surprised if something similar happens again.

Either way, Steam or no Steam, people who's buying this on consoles will probably regret it.

Well it shouldn't have that much bug, technically it is already 2 years after release, New Vegas is (based on various magazine's preview i read) more of an addon for Fallout 3 than a completly new games so most of the bugs should already have been patched out.

It's certainly not exciting, but it is very convenient. You get to play the game the moment it's released rather than waiting for the download to complete. Also, sometimes the download servers get a little haggard, so being able to download it before the rush helps.

I've heard rumours and second hand information about the leaked 360 version (put that in yer pipe and smoke it, Capcom!) and it seems that first impressions are good. Words like "better than Fallout 3 in every way" were used. I wonder how No Mutants Allowed will react to it?

Talking about No Mutants Allowed, they linked to *link removed*, which seem to be the first review, even if it's on a very minor site. Emphasis on "seems to be", since it's pretty much what anyone would conclude by only reading previews. The NMA folk seems to be poo-poohing the review. Will wait until I play it before I start drawing conclusions.

[edit] Apparently, there was a comment by Obsidian that said that they didn't give him a copy that got nuked by the website, so ignore that, then.

Still debating if I want to buy it ahead of time for the crappy DLC (yay, a shotgun. Doubt I'll find any of those for the first fifty hours of the game :p).

On the one hand, a large part of me says "Seriously, even Obsidian can't screw this up.". Then I remember KOTOR 2 and am terrified it will be a buggy piece of crap.

Looking at the Eurogamer preview, they mention that you can find a weapon of every type during the intro. That is a good thing, since it avoids the tedium of all my energy weapon characters being insanely deadly with baseball bats :p

I dunno, guess I'll keep reading previews and look at the warez sites to see what the 360 kids think of it.

That being said, anyone know of any newer previews?

Seems similar to what I read from various "professional" previewers before : same engine than F3, graphics starting to looks dated, minor changes in gameplay (whose who like me expected a less action and more RPGish experience would be disappointed), the only difference from the one I read is that they seemed to imply that the plot and the characters were more interesting in NV than they were in FO3...

Its good and all, preloads etc... But if one buys it now, it will be a DLC, money draining whore... Just like all the other AAA games out there (looking at you Dragon Age!). Way prefer to wait for the GOTY edition.

Well, if it comes to that, I'll just sell my copy. What really upset me with FO3 was that you could only get that last DLC if you bought the GOTY edition or purchased it via G4WL. And I can't recall when I found out about that. Definitely after I had my copy of the game. It wasn't an issue until MS decided to try and rip me off with their fraudulent points scheme.
