Btw, anyone know if you can do anything with the stratovarious violin you find in one of the vaults?

Weclock: play violin hero, of course

Now THAT made me laugh out loud...
Like Sar says below the above and above me, it can be used later, so hang on to it.
I happen to really enjoy the result of having kept it.

fear my fabulously fumbling fingers, as they fantastically finger they keys, frantically, frustratingly, forming words and sentences, like fornicate, football, frankenfurter, faegella, frosted, french, fists, faints, freights, and so on.
dare to be stupid..

Guess I missed that quest on my first time through... its kinda fun to start all over again and actually find a crap load of places you never found the first time (didn't take the reveal all places perk on my first time through just for that reason)

Me either. I am just heading to finish the main quest, about 35 hrs invested so far. On the Bethseda forums I continually read how the main quest was too short. True if that is all you tried to do in the game. I just wandered around finding things for the longest time and had a blast (literally, sometimes) doing it. Played good this time, I am going to be a tad evil on my next go through... ;)

ilves: If you play the storyline far enough you'll get all the vaults on your map...

It's a quest item. Keep it and itll come in handy when youll get the quest ;]
Decided to install a bunch of mods and tweak the fallout.ini and start again. One of the mods was a texture improver, and with fullLOD switched on the world looks a lot nicer with more detail in the distance - funnily enough my framerate stayed pretty much the same, although one mod does speed walking by 10% (without affecting running).
I also see FalloutNexus is already moving to bigger servers, and I must admit, although most of the mods are small ones I did not think there would be 360 mods already! So I really hope a Construction Set does come out, because if Fallout 3 got just 10% of the great mods Oblivion did it would be a sweet sweet game for someone like me, who prefers sci-fi to fantasy but also likes RPG's so have had to put up with them!

Here is some info on the CS:

Though I wish they would just come out and say YES or NO instead of 'We'll have solid news later.', it is looking good that eventually a CS will be released.
Did you notice some .esp files came out for Fallout 3? Isn't that possible only with TES CS?
No pipboy screen saver, Fallout 3 -1.
Playing through it by myself, and I don't see much of a difference from when my friend played.
awesome game, just got to the Pentagon.
Granted I restarted the game with mods, but for the first time, I was in VATS, shot a Merc and another Merc got me and killed me - in slow motion from his point of view! Hence, I saw my body go flying! It was a fantastic way to go!
Anybody else had this - and how often does it happen?
I do have a mod that's called No God Mode VATS that allows for the player to take damage during VATS, so don't know if that is part of the above - but in any event, I was surprised to be on the 'receiving end' of VATS and dying in such a cool way! :) Always a sign of a good game if you die well - like in STALKER, the first time you see a dog drag your body into bushes to munch on you! :)

I get shot even in VATS mode....
VATS mode is more like slow mo after you queue up your commands

Brilliant - thanks! The reason I restarted ( I wasn't much beyond level 2 anyway!) was to add mods that lowered XP for shooting enemies and another that allows the player to go to level 30. Between these two mods, the game's going to be a lot kinder to me, and will allow me to do a lot more AND do the main quest without it ending too soon!
I am glad I was a little late to the party to be able to get these mods before I got too far. I must admit, I thought there would be no more than a dozen mods without a CS and was most surprised to see 100's! If a CS does ever come out, I think we'll do good with this game!

You can take damage in VATS but it is only like 10% of realtime. There is a mod that changes this so you take the same amount as realtime.
