The DRM is the reason I didn't buy New Vegas in the first place. Since that's what Starkrun was actually saying, I agree. If they release a cheap non-steam version later with DLCs included, sure! As is, nope.

The DRM is why I traded a buddy for his XBox 360 copy, woohoo for console versions I guess.

Pheace: Nevar! The modding community is massive for Fallout 3/NY,I'd hate not to have access to that :)
Yeah, but is the modding community for Fallout 3 full of douchehats more concerned with "mod permissions" and censoring the forums than enjoying a game and sharing mods? Like the TES modding "community"? If so, I'll pass. :-P I know, I know. Not all modders are douchehats. Some are pure win in fact. ;-)

I know the site you are talking about and I don't use it. I stick to the Nexus for all my mods, they have everything you need. Some of the mods for New Vegas are stellar and I couldn't even contemplate playing the console versions.I know, I know. Not all modders are douchehats. Some are pure win in fact. ;-)

As soon as there's a mod for New Vegas that removes the DRM I'll buy it on PC. Until then I have more DRM free and acceptable (to me) DRMed games than I can shake a stick at.

You really shouldn't underestimate modders you know. Check the Nexus for NV 3GB Ram enabler. By using it it disables Steam thus allowing you to play New Vegas without it.

Anything that doesn't involve activation, always online requirements, or fucking up my hardware with bad drivers. That leaves CD keys, the old (pre 7) versions of SecuROM, and maybe some of the TAGES stuff (not sure). I don't like any of those, but I'll put up with them as essentially I can still resell the game, give it away, swap it with a buddy, or play it after the official servers are down.
Well, it's a step in the right direction, I suppose. I doubt I'd ever sign up for a Steam account though. Regardless, I appreciate the info.

Between Delixe, StingingVelvet, Navagon, Starkrun, orcishgamer, and bevinator posts, looks like I'll be purchasing a retail copy of Fallout 3 Game of the Year Edition at some point.

~ Anything that doesn't require an online/over-the-phone activation and doesn't fuck with my system by installing custom drivers... I'd rather have my nails pulled than purchase a game that tyrannically requires me to phone home before I'm allowed to play it when I have superior options... I'm already a massive, filthy, pathetic, hypocrite for purchasing Counter-Strike: Source (retail, came with Day of Defeat: Source), Left 4 Dead Bundle, and Team Fortress 2 inspite of the fact that I spent all of $20 for the lot and trying to rationalize that I'd need the net to play 'em anyway... Ditto for Mass Effect ($10) which I bought after playing ME2 because I wanted the series on one system and naively thought EA had turned a new leaf back in 2010...
