Anyone knows if in the Fallout 3 game of the year edition the number of installations are limited?

That's Fallout: New Vegas.

The launcher uses SecuROM but the .exe doesn't. Once you have it installed launch from the exe and it's effectively DRM free. The DLC is also DRM free if you buy it on disc.

"For Fallout 3's copy protection on PC, we use the same security model as we did for Oblivion - a simple disc check. We only use SecuRom's disc check functionality for copy protection. We do NOT limit the number of installs. We do NOT use online authentication or any other SecuROM functionality except for a disc check when you install the game and when you launch the game. We do not install any other programs and we don't have anything that runs in the background while you're playing the game."

Such a shame they didn't keep it that way with New Vegas. I'd get it, but can't force myself to accept steam client on my PC.

Funny, me I'm waiting for a specific Fallout sale on Steam to pick out Fallout 3 because I'd rather have it on steam than a standalone copy (especially if it requires disc check, bleh) :)

Yeah, I would much rather get a Steam copy than a boxed one.

Can't really blame people on the Gog forum I guess. Makes sense for a lot of no-DRM whatsoever people to be gathered here.

Me, I'm on the other end. I'm perfectly fine with DRM like Steam. For me it's all about convenience. Easy access to classics, no more Swapping discs, no more guides to get games to work on systems nowadays etc. That's what Gog offers for me. The no-DRM part is not what attracts me here.

Don't get me wrong. No-DRM is a nice bonus, but not at the cost of convenience. Steam does that for me. All I have to do is browse through the library to see a list of all my games, installed or not installed and a click of the play or install button is all I need to do to be able to play it soon.

I'll rather get a physical copy, and then have BOTH. ;) 2>1 in my world. :p

It´s a present, and as a european I don´t like Steam so much. Their price policy is insulting.

The DLC is DRM free if you buy it from GFWL as well, just backup the files. The whole game is essentially DRM free, which is why New Vegas going Steamworks was a bummer.

I prefer physical copies, in case of the death of the Internet. ;)

Disc check is the only DRM I have no problem (and swapping discs doesn't bother me) but I cannot stand online activation (unless I'm sure it'll be removed in a later patch) and I'd hate to install some steam crap on my PC.

I know that eventually, I'll be forced to (New Vegas and Civilization 5 are "on my list"), but Ii hope to avoid it as long as it is possible.
