Patch 1.01 is out, which is great. It fixes some pretty major bugs (like the one where the AI players would sometimes instantly finish all their constructions when you loaded a saved game) and is supposed to fix some performance issues too. Plenty of balance changes too.

Pheace: If there's one thing that never interests me at all in games like this, it's playing on pre-defined maps so that map pack would certainly be of no interest to me. Heck, if a game like this didn't have custom maps it wouldn't be worth half what I would put on it compared to when it does.
Yeah, it seems like a bizarre choice for a DLC. But it's Stardock's first ever DLC so I guess they decided on a map-pack since it's a pretty safe choice; being 100% optional with the people who don't buy it not missing out on anything.

Pheace: Low sales is not a surprise I guess, Elemental has/had a bad rep, it's hard to come back from something like that and there's a good chance some people won't give it a fair shot and shoot it down quickly because it still 'looks the same'. .
Actually that's not really that low. Not for a non blockbuster type game. That's not counting the 100,000 free games they gave away, which would have really eaten into their sales. That's still a couple million bucks worth of sales, so they should at least break even. One of the big obstables they mentioned is just getting word out, since review are slow in coming due to the glut of PC games coming on market at this time of year.
I really think word of mouth and long term support will carry FE to becoming something special. It's already a fantastic game, but things can be refined and tightened up and added even further. Not to mention the robust modding tools.

There is no reason why we won't end up calling this a classic in a few years. The only downside is it does appeal to a very specific type of gamer, but hey, we're always crying for more specialization in games aren't we?

Frogboy already stated, that the Map Pack will also contain new stamps, which are used in the creation of random maps.

You can find the statement here:

not sure that makes me any happier then tbh, buying a mappack to get a few extra mapstamps. I assume the random gen works by sticking 'stamps' together then? So the same pieces of map but stuck together in random ways then?

It's a bit more complicated then that, but you have the right general idea. I believe that game first generate some random terrain, then sticks the stamps over it and fits them together. Makes for random maps with some thought put into the terrain.

Pretty much, yes. There are currently about one hundred stamps in the game, that are used in the creation of random maps. Not sure, if the 'Wildlands' are included in that number, but they are stamps too. The more there are, the more unique (and less repetitive) the land will look. The higher quality the stamps are, the better and more natural the map will look.

Last I heard, it is possible to create stamps ourselves, but it is quite hard. Our best bet, therefore, is to get them from Stardock directly.
I saw some instructions on it in the FE forums, and creating stamps does not look to be difficult at all, once it was figured out. I wouldn't be surprised to see a player made stamp pack or two soon.

I was just going by what SeanW3 was saying here: http://forums.elementalgame.com/436082/get;3271218

If it is actually easy to do, then that is great.

So you took a single, random, non specific comment and assumed it was the definitive authority on the subject? The problem isn't that it's difficult, it's just the you need the exact specifications for it to work. Those can be found here.
