Does anyone know of a similiar era EOB type game that had vampires? I think it was D&D but had a darker tone, maybe it wasn't vamps but demons. It was definitely an early 3D game.

That probably would be the Ravenloft games. Strahd's Possession and the sequel Stone Prophet.

Thanks
Wasn't the third EOB-game developed by someone else (not Westwood)? If so, maybe SSI (Ubisoft) owns the rights to the entire series, since they could make a third one without Westwood.
Edit: Ah. D&D. Crap.

With Atari being sued over the D&D license by WotC you can forget any D&D game being sold here. Never mind titles that Atari don't have the rights to.
FYI, the Gamefest shovelware disc has all of them and much, much more.
DnD rights are very complicated, so it'd be a looooong time until that's up for digital distro, or at least until current lawsuits are cleared up.

The license at that time was with SSI and they farmed the Job out to Westwood. The Third title was done inhouse and Westwood went on to make Lands of Lore.
I know this is a fairly old thread, but it seemed the most applicable.

Are we still more likely to see a human land on Mars before Eye of the Beholder appears on GoG?
Looks like a 3 year old thread but I am still wanting these games. Anybody have any ideas on this?

Abandonware?
or maybe a SNES version or a GBA one?
Yeah I think your right about searching an abandonware site then keep waiting for a GOG release! These were on my top 10 list hoping that GOG would bring them. Incidentally, Lands of Lore series in my top 5 and they were developed by the same company, go figure.

Well, that certainly sucks. Sounds like a similar licensing quagmire to the Star Trek games debacle.

Ideally, I'd love a Forgotten Realms Archive release; a GOG-specific version of those old CD-ROM compilations, tweaked, DRM-free, and Dosbox ready to work on one's modern OS.

I played a lot of EoB in elementary school. Back then those action cRPGs were stern and unforgiving to incompetence. You had to be crafty as well as have sharp reflexes. Oh, those old trigger-plate fireball traps! And be willing to go through a lot of graph paper (Automap? Please, boy).

I seem to recall the levels in EoB 2 where resting was forbidden (and the way back sealed off) the most brutal and testing of a player's acumen. It's been a lo-o-o-ong time though.

The first nightmare level of EotB 2 I never managed to get past. This was the first game I ever played fervently that I could not beat.

bansama: It's sorta nice to know it's still out there. But to be honest, I'd far rather buy it from here when it eventually arrives =)

Lou: If they ever clear the legal battles over D&D licensing and get them here I too will buy them.
Also appreciate the link Lou....and I will buy them here as well, when/if they become available

That's a three year old post.

But yeah, with licensed games your only real hope is that the torrent sites will keep them alive, because nowhere legitimate can.
