maxman43: Well, I do, the thing is none of them could play modern games, and the ones that are better then this one both have major stability issues. I can get pics and specs of them too tomorrow. But my craptop is my main computer, that I use everyday. If one of my better computers gets fixed or something, I'll be sure to let you know.

Well, I haven't really tried any modern games (like COD4 or left4dead), but advent rising barely runs on my best computer (Major framerate issues, even with everything on lowest setting). I suppose the most recent game I've tried on it is Minecraft, which runs ok (with everything at lowest setting), but has some major dips in framerate often. Here's some specs on the laptop I'm talking about.

Also, IIRC, it doesn't have shader 2.0 or something, which stopped me from run quite a few things (like Portal)

"Craptop"? Hardly. If you scrounge around places like CL or Kijiji for old RAM and IDE hard drives, you'd have yourself a great Ubuntu machine. Hell, with specs like that it'd be perfect for Lubuntu, and you could use WINE or your XP copy running in VirtualBox to run your GOG titles. If you really don't need a machine like that, it'd be really awesome if you, say, gave it to someone (like a senior or a single parent) needing a computer for someone with low-modest computing needs.

I did something similar with a nice IBM ThinkPad that I scored for $6 (!) on CL. I love to tinker with old hardware, and I got a chance to help out a nice little old lady.

Sounds good and all, this thread I mean, but if we limit our giving to only people with bum level rigs or only those with one pc it's gonna end up eliminating 99% of everyone....if not everyone entirely. I'd be happy if this thread even helped improve a lesser equipped gogger out a bit.
