JMich: Would have made for an interesting endgame as well though.

JoeSapphire: Yeah. I was a bit ashamed at how boring we were. I really wanted to screw one of us over before it all ended, but it just seemed hopeless.
I was expecting one of you two to be the usurper role - I've been mafia Godfather once before , and got usurped early on....
avatar
JoeSapphire: Really?? Town Silver Surfer? I had a lot of trouble with that. But I suppose I had a slight advantage.
A better claim than "Other Lone Mason of which there are two" I think. The thing that made Silver Surfer more believable was probably your Alf claim. One of them alone would have seemed really out of place but both of them made the other one more believable. I also loved that Robbeasy's falseclaim stuck to the same series as his actual name.

That was a stipulation in my PM...;)

No. The 'Silver Surfer' role was just a Hider. Why would the hider role be renamed to fit the flavour but the Jack-Of-All-Trades and Tracker roles not be?
The Lone Mason was a made up role and so you couldn't have known whether it was simply a humourous powerless role or not - you thought that the phone seeker was just a standard powerless role, but it turns out that it wasn't.

Why were Alf and Silver Surfer complimentary? Robbeasy's and My own falseclaims were given to us in our roles (flavourwise, not powerwise). I would never have thought to make up Alf on my own. Silver Surfer was all JMich's though.
Who would I have done if I had been forced to think of one myself? Perhaps Sonic the Hedgehog..? We'll never know.
Hmm, I replied to this over an hour ago. Forum ate it!

It's not at all uncommon for roles to be renamed to fit flavour in mafia games in general. Besides, we'd already had ET, Phone Seeker so Norrid Radd, Silver Surfer works fine.

Lone Mason on the other hand? Well you wouldn't be lone masons if there were two of you.

I'm just bitter that I didn't get a chance to actually do anything in the last day. I'd finally spotted useful stuff! =/

It just seems to me that they'd have felt a little out of place without the other.

Vitek: Deadline should be in less than 6 days.
I like the strict deadlines, but I think they should have been more specific than this. The prospect of a looming and indeterminate deadline allowed the mafia to push that lynch through by going "oh no quickly vote for someone because the day is endingggg!".

Of course, people shouldn't have been swept along by that because in this instance missing the deadline was preferable to a mislynch.

Bah!

Had you forgotten how to vote?

JoeSapphire: Had you forgotten how to vote?
No, but I couldn't make proper posts on my phone. I was planning on questioning/pushing Rob more thoroughly when I got back to a computer, I thought I'd already said that. I made a note and everything! Unfortunately quotes are fiddly on a touch screen.

You've got to remember, voting when the mafia nearly control the lynch is dangerous business. After all, it only took two misplaced town votes for you guys to win. Did you expect me to just throw my vote around before questioning and pressuring?

QuadrAlien: It's less that the cop wasn't there and more that what was there is so precisely countered by the Ninja ability - using it two nights in a row to start the game would have left no evidence. (Although I'll grant you giving them a Godfather without a use slightly alleviates this, given as they'd assume there was a cop for it to have an effect.)

Perhaps I'll have to try working out a game at some point - I'm sure it's not easy, in any case. :)
You are maybe right, but it is not so clear cut. I admit mafia could easily avoid tracking ability, but I created it with the fact that there are several ways to avoid NK (Bodyguard who could easily kill the ninja, commuter, bulletproof, block), thus allowing more nigts and more options to track killer successfully. Also janitor and ninja vote ability supported no ninja kill on N1, allowing chance to track N1 kill. (and it almost happened, TB was only one day off)

I would like to hear more opinions on this.

The deadline was set to exact day and hour at the start of that Day, so I think it was specific enough.
I posted "should", because I wasn't sure what time it was when I posted it. It had nothing to do with flexible and unsure deadline.
Why am I to blame for town falling for Joe's fearmongering?
We considered this scummy since... game 5, I think.

avatar
JoeSapphire: ALSO I'ld like to say that the timing of this game, basically I mean the deadlines, worked very well from my perspective. How did the town find it?
In case someoen didn't get it, I was doing number of players+4 to determine lenght of day. This way even with lowest possible amount of players, there would be 7 days per day, but on the other hand they weren't too long.

With prods I wasn't so harsh in the end as I declared. First I wasn't able to track 36 hours in anyway so I had to go just with "2 days ago" to determine whether someone deserves prod. I also always gave players few hours to post after prod before I imposed "prod star". If I didn't, Twilight and maybe someone else wouldn't finish the game.

avatar
Robbeasy: Also - many apologies to Vitek for buggering his game up a little and forgetting I couldn't vote second day! He then got so excited someone had actually done something he included me in the vote count to start with...I couldn't believe no-one picked up that he went and removed me from the votecount - and told everyone about it in big bold letters - everyone just seemed to let it slide by.
It was really nice how nobody cared. Only Joe and he couldn't say anything. :-)

Robbeasy: I was expecting one of you two to be the usurper role - I've been mafia Godfather once before , and got usurped early on....
I tried to support this by putting that part about not trusting them into your PM. :-)

Also, I wanted to ask, why did you tell them that you are not allowed to give them your falseclaim and you have to use it yourself? Was it because of distrust or you were just lazy to create new one?

Purely because i didnt trust them!! Felt it was info they idnt really need and was wary of giving them a reason to get me killed.....which is also why i said nothing about the poetry bit and how it would blow my cover...;)

Vitek: From town I would say only TwilightBard was really good and if he pursued Joe after making case against him, instead of sticking to voting Twister for his error, he could maybe do something with the game.
I'm going to disagree as really good, because if I hadn't tracked Joe Night 2, I would have been in a position to keep pushing my case. After seeing him do nothing, I spent a bit of Day 3 trying to recollect myself, and it pretty much put me in a position to have to claim

Sorry, I guess I missed that. And I wasn't blaming you, just after the bit you quoted I conclude that we shouldn't have been swept along by it. :P

EDIT: Sometimes my way of thinking changes partway through writing a post. Rather than go back and change the earlier bit, I just go "actually no" because I type as if talking. I don't think I'm making much sense, but never mind!

I actually considered putting of some such role into game. :-) I decided against it as I felt it would be too much.

OK. Really good compared to rest of town? Better? :-)

In case someone is interested in my incoherent rambling with occassional interjections from other people (I know that at least one of you is interested), you can read it here:
Quicktopic

Btw. beadline would be 2 hours from now, so I think there really wasn't so big time pressure as Joe managed to convince you there is. :-)

I knew it was a way off, that's why my plan was to get home and then poke Robbeasy. :P

JMich: Blame Joe actually. He did guess during Day 1 that P1na was a Doctor and that you were a cop, so we did decide to kill you on Night 2. I just tried to prepare the ground for a lynching on Day 3, but you turned out to be a JOAT, not a cop.
Vitek should be providing a link for the scumchat soon, so you can see our reasonings.
The most frustrating thing was I never even thought of my role when I posted that one sentece, it was just a random comment. It was huge overthinking on your (mafia) part assuming I meant something by it, yet by pure luck it actually did. I didn't know what to think of it when I realized, and I'm not quite sure even now.

you must have been subconsciously channeling your role.
