Cookie crumbs for Lifthrasil and TwisterBE. Lately newbies do seem to be voting no lynch. But it occurred to me that voting no lynch is a possible way of avoiding common new mafia player mistake of voting for one of their buddies.

Twlight been the voice of reason telling people not to no lynch. Which makes CSPVG's no lynch vote more interesting. Half a cookie.

Think it's a first by Flubbucket in voting for someone who's not in the game. Admit it did make me look to see if had missed his name on list of players.

That looks very much like a lie to me. As first post says Kang is an alien. Seem to backtrack in p30 saying must have missed than part. Yet leave vote on Flub. Which strikes me as odd, might be wrong of course but wasn't reaon for the vote that all aliens are bad.

You seem to have a copy of my playbook so you already know the answer. You did a good job of answering it back in p46.

But I will admit getting reactions was only part of the reason. I'm sure you recall how much I love RVS. In part because it's the only time in the game you can do naughty things like vote for yourself, no lynch and vote for the mod. Recall voting for mod in last few games so though would mix it up.


I disagree, best case for mafia is lynched townie. As that throws up a number of suspects for next day. Plus if night kill is successful 2 dead townies at start of day 2.

Having a lynched townie also gives some threads to follow, while a nolynch may (or may not) leave such threads. So on one hand mafia has one less to deal with, on the other hand it may be easier to be identified.
The absolutely best case scenario for mafia would of course be town lynching town, with no mafia involvement, but that does seem highly unlikely.

P.S. Will you be staying after all, or is Vitek still looking for a replacement?

He stated in the sign-up thread, "...I've played a fair few Mafia games on another forum I used to be active on, and have been wanting to try it out again." He also has the second highest post count (behind the spectacular NoSocksXoX) so I'm confident he knows what he's doing. Most of his posts seem very carefully crafted. I've stated my opinion regarding TheJoe. It's nothing personal since the vote is on me, it just seems weak. Similar to your comments regarding SirPrimalform. I fully realize Day One is "look for anything" but I will still say what I think.


Agree with whatever makes the fun. However, there could be consequences by those looking to pounce upon any reason.

Also agree the best scenario for mafia is for town to lynch town. And no lynch is not a viable option due to lack of evidence from voting and other smarty pants stuff JMich said earlier.

Yep, always good advice. And sure, there can be consequences, but what fun would it be without any consequences? Much rather enjoy the game until some good citizen decides to lynch me out of mad suspicion than doing nothing in fear of it. Which is why, I insist on lynching the people who'd rather meekly wait for the next murder (and confuse naive new players while at it) rather than taking the risk and attempting to catch the bad guys. So, my vote remains where it is, I'm headstrong. And bloodthirsty. Specially when the safety of random people I haven't met and don't give a fuck about me is concerned. I'm a nice guy like that.

I have to say, the game is a lot slower moving than I thought. I thought of it as a game of "murderer" with card, do you know of it? each player receives a card, and at random one is the murderer, one is the police, and there are other power roles if there are enough players. Games go by quite fast. This on the other hand is a lot slower and mind fuck heavy than I originally thought, and I'm too much of a direct and honest person to navigate all this trickery safely. However, that's no reason to give up. I might not make it to the final moments of the game, but if I have to go down, I won't go without a fight. Tales will be told about my heroics, for ages to come.

Perfect scenario for Mafia would be a Town lynch with only Town on the Bandwagon.

Second best - definitely a No-Lynch. No risk of getting hit, no bandwagon to analyse the next day, and a head start into the night killing. It would be like a free night for them - we would be in exactly the same position next day as we were at start of day one, except we would probably be down a Town member.

I didn't. I replied to him telling me that he disagreed with me. I did go for the highly unlikely but lottery winning like scenario as well, but I doubt it's something we'll encounter in a mafia game.

As flubb has already commented, I mentioned in the sign-up thread that I'd participated in mafia games before. Having done a quick mental tally, I can remember playing 4 to completion. I'm not sure if that makes me an old hand, but I do have mafia experience.

No, not really. Explaining yourself is helpful, and although I still feel that you've acted suspiciously, I can can now see where you're coming from. Telling us why you do certain things the way you do, softens my suspicious and removes some of the malign intent I'd ascribe your actions.

Uuuhhh. To switch or not to switch? With the discussions/explanations above I'm beginning to doubt my evaluation of N0x0ss. He might as well only be eager and careless instead of mafia. But then again he might just be a good actor.

Ah, what the hell. I'll probably make myself suspicious again by switching too often, but that's better than lynching the wrong person. So I'll switch to the second suspect on my list, TwisterBE. Who still is unwilling to share his alleged second suspicion. As others said, a suspicion not shared is a suspicion wasted. If you are nightkilled your thoughts are lost. Or if he really would have wanted to watch silently because he was not yet sure, he would have done so, well, silently. But stating to have a suspicion but then not sharing his insights is just not helpful for the town.

I left my vote on Flub because you appear to have misunderstood my reason for voting him. It was for the unprovoked and (to me) highly suspicious softclaim. I initially thought there was more significance to what was claimed, but finding out that there wasn't didn't make the softclaim 'ok'.

He is active, but his posts are very generic and tell very little. It looks like he is trying to stay in the background without raising suspicion. Like I said it's a long shot but at this point of the game that's all we have to go on on.

Earlier there was a sort of dialogue that went roughly:

Pazzer: I'm going to vote nolynch!

Joe: Pazzer's probably going to say he just wants to see what the reactions are!

Pazzer: No I'm not!

Joe: Then why?
(Pause in which almost a decade passes)

So what's going on?

I read myself say "I think FluB is mafia rather than N0x0ss" or something - which doesn't quite mean what I was thinking. I sort of mean out-of-the-two - them being the top two votes. It was a sort of justification for not switching my vote - which no-one mentioned so I can see why you're all confused. Explain yourself Mr Brownbridge!

Twister still seems to be making sense. I want to hear more from you!

Rob's maybe right about me not having my usual energy. Everybody's doing alright contribution wise - I think most of my day one strategy is the old "Come on guys! The war's not going to win itself! We've got to do something."

Well anyway I'm going to make a list when I have time. That usually cheers me up.
I call upon Twiglet and Twister to make a list as well! And someone else. JMich.
Make me a list of players and make that list seem to say what you think of those players, and let that list hold within all players that play within the game.
Finally I request you - I challenge you - name all your players from memory in the order that you remember them. Do not consult your script unless you concede that the task is unperformable!
