Pazzer can't possibly be mafia (I think).

A regular townie would want to take time, study people and find the culprit...
A mafia would want to find a suitable target or raise supicions on a non-mafia person.

If Pazzer was mafia and didn't have the time to participate, or had to be replaced, he would've made sure to help his mafia companions a maximum before quitting the game, blaming a person or raising suspicion on a target rather to post comments that would clearly show his indecisiveness....
Theifore I sense he's town, and having to leave, didn't wanna make a hasty post that might damage the game of his townie companions.

A scum wishes to appear as a townie, for as long as he can. Thus he would try to act town-like. You already assumed that scum would jump all over the chance to lynch you, but that is quite easier to spot than the opposite.

Also, my reason for voting Pazzer was for his first vote, in which he did vote for nolynch, even though he is a more experienced player than CSPVG and TwisterBE, at least for the GOG mafia games. Will wait for his replacement and study the replacement as well, but I don't currently have a better candidate to vote for.

And how is that different from town play? Don't we all try to justify the reasons we are voting who we are voting for, or are some of us using dice to place a vote?
Also, remember what I was saying about nolynch. Stalling and preventing a majority vote is good for scum, not for town.

No, I think you haven't. But I can see why. One doesn't have a lot to go by and I'm afraid it's easy to make mistake. I'm still quite unsure as well whether the vote on N0x0ss is the right decision or whether I should rather vote TwisterBE. They both seem suspicious. I will be very sorry should N0x0ss turn out to be a townie with a quirky playstyle. But every one of his explanations could be used by a mafia as well to try to cover his previous suspicious behaviour. Well, I guess erring is part of the dangers of the game (and without dangers it would be boring) and one has to start somewhere. So I will still stick to my vote and see how things develop.

You have to take into consideration then nolynch almost never happens on day one anyways, so it's just stupid for a mafia to encourage it and obstinate on it. He might as well find a target

The only reason a mafia might suggest nolynch, is to test and see if new players (I fell for it first time I played) would be gullable enough and he just might get the majority of vote for it.
A townie might suggest it to study the reaction of a new player mafia.

CSPVG can be any one of those two.

I see I have made myself suspicious to others. First let me tell my why I voted lifthrasil.

First to no lynch, but switching opinion pretty quickly. Then there is the list of people he finds suspicious: TwilightBard's, JoeSapphire (twice), N0x0ss, me.

He is against the Lynch All Liars and he is ok with the fishing for roles.

After I voted him I'm his suspect.

I won't give away my second suspect yet, for the reason that N0x0ss mentioned: "Sharing suspicion would only alert the person under surveillance...".

I was hoping I'd force him to state his opinion about me, and forcing him to have integrity in his opinion, so that if he'd change it in the future it would look suspicious. (I figured, if he's mafia, he's either gonna say I'm mafia, giving the excuse I've been suspicious from the beginning, or try to lay low and say he thinks I'm town even though I'm suspicious, so it'd be difficult for him to vote against me unless I had radical change in my behavior. I wanted to secure myself in a way.) But then he went and quit without even participating, analysis, raising suspicion etc... So I said what I thought about it and Jmich didn't seem to share my thoughts.

Funny enough, the two people I've been pointing fingers at since the beginning (JoeSapphire and JMich, are the two players that have been defending me so far.)
If it weren't for JoeSapphire's expertise of the game, I'd say he most probably is a townie, but you can never know with him; as for SirPrimalForm, I really don't know what to make of him... He always says barely enough so we don't suspect him of lurking, yet not so much as we can understand his views, thoughts etc... He's either playing it safe or is just waiting for an interesting event to occur....

Twister's reasoning makes sense. (Well I'm not sure what's wrong about being suspicious of Twiglet N0x0ss and me but everything else seems valid enough reason to want to vote someone - I like the long shot angle).

N0x0ss I think your definitions of mafia bahaviour are too concrete.
It seems to be considered 'mafia desireable' to force a no-lynch even though that tends to make the game drag on. Feels safer I suppope?

Flubbucket - still I think he is mafia rather than N0x0ss. Could they both be mafia? Why not? But of the two Flubbucket is probably the slightly more mafiesque mafia.

No worries - rule no 1 in Mafia is never take anything personally, and I didnt find it rude anyway. I sometimes have trouble explaining myself properly, i tend to ramble a bit (as regular players will tell you), and you put what i was trying to say about N0x0ss a lot more succinctly.

Having said that, I'm starting to wonder. N0x0ss has not exactly covered himself with glory so far, but I'm getting a vibe of over eager player rather than out and out scum. It is true we have very little to work on in Day1 , and the smallest slip is leapt upon and exaggerated beyond belief, so he has to by default be right up there on the scumlist, but I'm not overly sure...and in the interests of more discussion, and the fact that if we DO have a game of normal proportions and there are three Mafia, I'm going to

unvote N0x0ss - just in case we get a speed lynch. I'm hopeful we are a way off deadline yet, and I'd like more discussion first.

I also think its slightly unfair calling Twister so early in the game - a newbie would be acting EXACTLY as he is so far - taking their time , with posts few and far between as they get a feel for the game.

Question for CSPVG - you played Mafia before? Because you seem very confident in your postings, which is making my scum bump itch a little. Don't get me wrong, you've posted nothing to really make me suspicious, and if you are a mafia old hand, then the itch will have bee well and truly scratched.

Other slight suspect (and this is somewhat meta gaming, as im going on past games here) - Joe. Definitely hasn't started off like his usual self, been very very subdued so far, for me...

Every player plays differently in their own ways. One big thing is if Pazzer wanted to be replaced, he wouldn't have wanted to draw attention to himself so that the replacement isn't going to have lots of suspicion. He's possibly shy away to give his replacement a clean slate to work with.

Although, I admit that this post is sorta, weird. Why defend him like this? I'm trying to wrap my head around the reasoning, and I'm not really finding anything. Care to explain a bit?

I try to get under the skin of a mafia player when I suspect someone of being mafia, and I try to see if I would have done the same thing (to a certain degree). In the case of Pazzer, it isn't even the case; I believe that any person, before leaving, (Unless being forced out or being immature or angry for whatever reason) is gonna try to do one last thing to mark his presence (especially if he has been attributed a special role, and I regard mafia as being a special role).

So for instance a president resigning from his country, would've at least tried to make one significant change before his resignation, it's human psychology at it's most primitive form; trying to leave a trace of oneself...


There's also, to a smaller degree, another use of me defending him, other then not wanting to lynch a townie.
I hope to win the sympathy of the replacing player (I believe Pazzer will be replaced), as I believe I am the number 1 suspect in the mind of most of the players, and by defending him he may realize I'm no mafia. (Although I don't know if talking about it defeats the whole purpose :p)
I may lack subtlety and may be a little too provoking, but I'm not suicidal, and if I can still avoid being lynched stupidly I will try and take that option.

Again with the cryptic, although I'll admit I'm not sure if mafiaesque is a fashion comment or "lifestyle" comment. When I say it aloud my wrist sort of does a funny turny thing.

I would like to go on record as being against giving the "new" people any special treatment. My first game on this forum (as a replacement) I was mafia. No one should assume if you're new you must be a good guy.

I won't be voting NoXXoSS.... nOOxsOs....Noxious....you know....just yet. I'm willing do what needs to be done in order to secure a lynch. I'm more suspicious of ScatfireJoe, (future) pazzer, and I have my eyes on TwisterShouter and CSPVGLMNOP.
