I am a classical archaeologist trying to finish his phd. While my main research interest is Roman Architecture I am also interested in experimental archaeology.

I am also interested in games and due to my recent good luck I did win a few things here so I would like to give back a bit. I have GTA Complete Collection on GamersGate which is 5 games (GTA3, GTA 4, Vice City, San Andreas and Episodes from Liberty City) and I have Patrician 1+2 and Tropico Reloaded on GOG. So I guess it's 7 days and 7 games.
Games are mostly gone yet I might post one or two at times. Or not.

Post about archaeology, experimental archaeology, maybe a cool experimental project; something you know or something you would like to try. Anything that is remotely related to archaeology and win a game.

Ohh and do tell me which game you want if you want any.

What's with the sneaky title you ask? Yeah I am sneaky like that.

Have you seen the Worst Jobs in History TV series? Starring Tony Robinson aka Baldrick from Blackadder. In different episodes he's taking part in reconstructions of various nasty jobs of the past centuries including washing bed sheets in ash water, rinsing freshly woven fabric in piss, boiling animal carcasses for soap, walking in the wheel of a medieval construction crane, building houses with dung etc.
No gift necessary. Just watch the show.
I am afraid I don't have access to History TV right now. I had at some time and I must say it did stink but I didn't see the Worst Jobs. That stuff ia avaliable on interwbz somewhere?

This project, http://www.foca-marsilya.info/english.htm I had a few friends in it and I was gonna be on board but didn't happen. They went ahead and did it. Super fun.

The title's "Worst Jobs in History". I think most episodes are on Youtube (definitely seen a *gasp* torrent), but look up a full episode list to double check.
Well i don't know much about archaeology but i guess this is worth noting:

Perak Man

Perak Man, found in 1991, is the only complete human skeleton which has been found in Malaysia. The cave that was his final resting place is called Gua Gunung Runtuh and is situated in Bukit Kepala Gajah or Elephant's Head Hill in the Lenggong Valley. The skeleton has been dated at between 10-11,000 years old, which makes him a Stone Age man, from the Palaeolithic period. The skeleton was a male with a height of approximately 157cm, aged 50s. He was buried in the fetal position.

I learnt about this during my form 1 in History subject. I guess this is quite rare.

Edit: If i win, which is probably unlikely.. i would love to have a shot for Episodes from Liberty City.

wormholewizards: Perak Man
Interesting indeed. Especially since he had a bad left hand and arm and he managed to live upto 45.
Ötzi the IcemanSimilaun Man, and Man from Hauslabjoch are modern names for a well-preserved natural mummy of a man who lived about 5,300 years ago. The mummy was found in September 1991 in the Ötztal Alps, near Hauslabjoch on the border between Austria and Italy. The nickname comes from the Ötztal (Ötz valley), the Italian Alps in which he was discovered. He is Europe's oldest natural human mummy, and has offered an unprecedented view of Chalcolithic (Copper Age) Europeans. His body and belongings are displayed in the South Tyrol Museum of Archaeology in Bolzano, South Tyrol, Italy.

I wonder what's the average age for a man during prehistory era? Without those advance tool, food, clothes and medicine.

Tropico reloaded is about mustache and cigars so I guess its a safe bet
We had to clear our loft out last month to have the insulation replaced.
With some of the things we found up there, it could almost be classed as archeology!

If you think so too, Patrician 1&2 sounds interesting....

Not much. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Life_expectancy#Life_expectancy_variation_over_time
But it seems there is a threshold at 15. If you can live to be 15 you have the chance to reach 50. Meh, every few years some nutjobs claim they have found the Noah's Ark, real popular topic amongst pseudoscientists.
i like to have sex with older ladies, you know... explore parts which had no seen men for decades.

does that counts as archaeology?

the first documentary I watched on the subject was from the 60s, it actually appears every few months since then :)

While the extended field expeditions offer certain opportunities I have to say I don't share your enthusiasm about certain older objects. And I believe what you are referring to is a prime example of pseudoscience.

What's funny is they are claiming that the flood took place about 2800 BC. We have absolutely nothing about a mass flood in those dates. And while we are at it earth was created 6000 years ago? Sure...
